Watched when I was little because it was part of my Saturday cartoons.

This Anime didn't just change me, it changed my way of life, it changed anime as we know it and is unrivaled in almost every category imaginable, the lack of filler combined with the complex and genius psychological elements of subtlety and ideology is mesmerizing. Nothing has come close to this anime, and I don't think anything will.

Hunter X Hunter is what all shonen should aspire to be. The arcs and characters are all unique and well thought out. The chemistry and friendship between the lead characters are adorable and strong. Each episode is unpredictable. The characters develop perfectly and the whole series is played out perfectly.

Hunter X Hunter is refreshing. I finally found a shonen that isn’t predictable, that has a protagonist who isn’t like all the others, and villains who aren’t just built up to be bad but consists more then just being stupidly evil so the protagonist can make friends with them. His best friend Killua is an amazing protagonist too. Killua had a crap childhood but once Gon came into his life he was able to smile again despite the tragedies. This is one of the many things that actually prove they are good friends. I’m glad nothing comes between these two especially ROMANCE. For anyone who thinks this is slow paced that maybe true but that’s actually because the creator put effort into each character and didn’t want to make the protagonist self incentive like al the other ones. So many shonen are completely the same. I’m glad Hunter x Hunter was made.

This shounen is one of the best, or maybe even best of the best! The plot and the development of each character are truly related to real world, unlike some other shounens who just keep getting powerups without trying too hard. I don't think that this should be recommended for those who are weak minded but who knows? Maybe Hunter x Hunter will help them develop and not comparing their skills.

3 One Piece One Piece is a manga franchise created by Eiichiro Oda. The manga has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999 and has aired 851 episodes to date.

An epic adventure full of exciting action, heart-breaking tragedy and storytelling that will blow your mind over and over again!

This series is amazing and has a fun cast of characters and the story lines are great

Should be # 1 because luffy is awesome no one can beat him

Would have been Dragon Ball but it was ruined by Dragon Ball GT.

4 Death Note Death Note is a Japanese television drama series based on the manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The show is centered around Light Yagami - a promising highschooler and aspiring detective with a strong sense of "justice".

Death Note is amazing, everything that goes through Kiras brain and Ls brain is ingenious ,and unpredictable. Both characters are insanely unique and well thought of that you always contemplate witch side your on even though they are almost complete opposites. The reason this is second on my list is because I see it more of a psychological anime then a shonen.

The show that gives you goosebumps whenever light does something badass.

Best anime of all time, surpasses even Bleach

Death note is a masterpiece. It’s completely original.

5 Boku No Hero Academia My Hero Academia is a superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, and 20 volumes have been collected in tankōbon format.

The most overrated anime I’ve watched. It’s okay at most. It’s predictable and cliche. Just by knowing the plot I can determine the whole ending. I hate it.

Best Shonen to come out in a long time, I believe that if the story continues to go as strong as it is right now, it will reach the popularity heights of Naruto, one piece and maybe even dragon ball. The amazing blend of music, animation and character development is what really sets this show apart from its pears.

I think for the anime of Boku No Hero Academia, it should be higher on the list. With the starting of season 3, it has been becoming one of the most popular anime of Shonen

Season 1 starts out kinda slow and boring, but seasons 2 and 3 are so good that watching the first season will feel worth it, trust me.

6 Dragon Ball Dragon Ball is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. It made anime popular in America and is based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama. It was dubbed in English on Cartoon Networks Toonami block and still has many fans today.

This is way more adventurous and fun when compared to Dragon Ball Z. I love them all, but the character development in Dragon Ball and overall show quality completely trumps DBZ.

Straight classic nothing better to just sit down and watch some Dragon ball and watch the best show in anime grow up

In my opinion Fairy tail is one of the best anime shows.

Shonen Jump did not make Fairy Tail.

Thisanime has great plot...several diverse and interesting characters the only vad thing is that this anime drags too much just like most of the anime's (one peice, naruto, bleach, dragon ball z)

I love this anime

15 Gintama Gin Tama, also styled as Gintama, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi and serialized, beginning on December 8, 2003, in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

I do not understand why it's on number 17. It's comedy is top tier, the action is golden, and just Gintoki is a great character. Okita is my favourite, but still. It's not just satirical, there's some action too, and some good one at that. This should be no. 1, what the hell. Well, it can compete with Hunter x Hunter (2011), but I prefer Gintama cause it's Gintama.

Gintama is underrated. It is probably the best anime I've watched so far. Comprising arcs with different genres and lovable characters from main to minor ones, this anime is highly recommended. (Unless u r too slow to understand the jokes lol)

So many people thinks Gintama is just a comedy anime but it not, it has so many good moments where you laught, cry, scream, etc. It also has a good argument.

Gintokiii! Absolutely my favorite Jump anime with my favorite Jump hero.

16 Hunter x Hunter (1999) Hunter × Hunter is a manga franchise created by Yoshihiro Togashi. 20 Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is an anime and manga franchise originally written by Hirohiko Araki. It centers around the perilous journey of the members of the legendary Joestar bloodline.

At the start Jojo’s is just ok, but after part 1 the show gets better and better. Harmon was a generic martial art power, but with the introduction of stands it gave the fights uniqueness and makes the series much different from other anime. This show also makes you fear if each fight might be the end of a main character (even the JoJo).

Great characters, short, yet intense and intriguing fights, and a great range of cultures, philosophies, and fantastic writing

JoJo's Bizzare adventure is a well made, and plotted series.

21 Assassination Classroom

Knows when to be absolutely funny and also serious. It is a great mix of emotion throughout and I could not stop watching once I started. Number 2 maybe only to HxH

Its comical and emotional at the same time. the characters will really grow on you throughout the series

Super emotional and sad

24 Haikyuu! Haikyu!! is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. Individual chapters have been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since February 2012, with bound volumes published by Shueisha.

So many good anime but my vote goes to this one for it holds a special place in my heart. The characters are so great. Its impossible not to bound with them. I also had a hard time not to root for the other team because all teams and their players have their own story and kind of win your respect during the series. And not to forget the tention all the matches bring with them. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time, laughing and crying with all the characters as they went thru their own personal development and ending up winning or losing... Great great series.

This is the best shounen I have ever seen. Very relatable and lovable characters

best shonen story

25 Dragon Ball Super Dragon Ball Super is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation that began airing on July 5, 2015. It is a sequel show to the Dragon Ball manga and the first Dragon Ball television series featuring a new storyline in 18 years.
