Best Simpsons Characters from the Golden Age

This list shows which characters from The Simpsons' golden age (Seasons 1-10) are the favorite, based on your votes.
The Top Ten
1 Homer Simpson Homer Jay Simpson is the main protagonist of the American animated television series The Simpsons as the patriarch of the eponymous family.

Homer's personality during the golden age was much, much better. He was a lot more likeable, his humor was outstanding, but most of all, he was a much better guy. The Homer nowadays is nothing but a lazy, selfish, dumb, and mean-spirited idiot who does nothing funny or reasonable.

Well, duh. Homer is hilarious. Also, Simpsons remains awesome to this day.

2 Bart Simpson Bartholomew JoJo "Bart" Simpson is the oldest child, and the only son, in the 1987 show The Simpsons. He was created by Matt Groening. His hobbies are pranking people including Lisa Simpson and Homer Simpson.

Bart was by far more likeable in the Golden Age. He's mischievous, he's cool, but was also more friendly and well-meaning than the Bart these days. The Bart these days has become more like Homer's sidekick and getting involved in stupid situations, instead of being a boy facing problems we can relate to.

3 Lisa Simpson Lisa Marie Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons. She is the middle child and most intelligent of the Simpson family.

Lisa from the Golden Age is almost completely different from the Lisa these days. During the Golden Age, Lisa was one of the most likeable characters of the show along with Bart and Homer. She used to be smart, sweet, and also had a much better and much stronger sense of humor than the Lisa these days. The Lisa these days has been a nightmare, with no good humor, being very obnoxious, and being more of a political commentator than a sweet little girl.

4 Maggie Simpson Margaret "Maggie" Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons. She first appeared on television in the Tracey Ullman Show short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Maggie was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening while he was waiting in the lobby of James L.

Maggie has always been cute, but was even better during the Golden Age. She may be a baby, but she's definitely not somebody you want to make angry. Besides that, she was also sweet.

5 Moe Syzlak

Moe is a grouch with a heart. He's also very funny and likeable too, mostly during the first ten seasons, though.

6 Ned Flanders Nedward Flanders Jr. is a recurring fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons.

Ned hasn't really changed too much over the years, but he was definitely better when the Simpsons were better.

7 Groundskeeper Willie Groundskeeper Willie is a character in The Simpsons. He is most famous for his Scottish accent. He first appears in the episode Principal Charming.

Groundskeeper Willie is really funny. His accent is hilarious, his remarks are gold, but deep down he also has a heart.

8 Chief Wiggum

Chief Wiggum is pretty much the most notable police officer in animation. He's funny, kinda lazy, but also used to be more intelligent and humble.

9 Marge Simpson Marjorie Jacqueline "Marge" Simpson is a fictional character in the American animated sitcom The Simpsons and part of the eponymous family. She is the wife of Homer and the mother of three children in the family.

Marge has never really clicked with fans as much as Homer, Bart, and Lisa had. The reason why though is that her episodes (mostly the more recent ones) had been bland and boring instead of being about going to space, selling your soul, or digging up a skeleton that looks like an angel. Other than that though, Marge was much more likeable during the Golden Age. She had a few episodes that were really great, like Marge vs. the Monorail.

10 Krusty The Clown Hershel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky better known by his stage name Krusty the Clown is a clown from The Simpsons. He first appears in the short Krusty the Clown, but in the show he first appears in The Telltale Head. He is Jewish. Despite the fact that he is children's entertainer, he's seen drinking and smoking a lot.

Hey, Hey, Hey! Hee hee
