Shouldn't There Be More British Artists In The Top Ten?

Wolftail Let me get a fact straight: The 2012 Olympics were held in London. That is in Great Britain. As it is in Great Britain, shouldn't it be celebrating British music?

That question brings me to point one: A large majority of the top ten on that list are Asian. That would be fine if the 2012 Olympics were held in Asia, but because they were held in Britain, the top ten needs more British artists. And the only one there is One Direction.

Point two: I have scrolled through the list and have seen a huge lack of British artists. A few of those are in the positions 10-30. The rest are American artists and Asian artists I have never even heard of! I understand that the list has a good point about being multi-cultural, but as I said before, there is a lack of British artists.

Point three: Who should really be in the top ten? This is my opinion, and I will try to be as fair as possible, considering all of the different genres that exist and that people like. Somewhere around the top should be Coldplay, Adele, and Kate Bush. The rest should consist of many more successful British artists of many more genres.

Because the Olympics are celebrating the world, A few acts from different continents should be involved. To spread the popularity of Vocaloids, one or two should have been featured in the opening ceremony, as well as a few artists from the USA to give the musical selection a bit more variety.

I think we should get voting on more artists that are native to Britain, shouldn't we?

A better question would be why are people still voting? It's 2014. - PositronWildhawk

Well, since the Beatles are on the list, I wouldn't take it too seriously. - PetSounds

Come bloody on! I posted a comment on this two weeks ago and it hasn't appeared yet. - PetSounds

Queen played in the closing ceremony. I can't remember if they played in the opening ceremony. They are a successful british band, one of my favourite bands of all time, and a band loved worldwide. I can't believe they didn't make the top ten. Nice post. - IronSabbathPriest

It's 2015 and it's still popular. It's crazy. - Minecraftcrazy530
