With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame with the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop and rock music .

Obviously 3 troll-made lists in a row, but it brings up an interesting point. Today's pop singers don't even need to be able to sing, they just need a "look" and a "style", and auto-tune does the rest. The great Sir Paul McCartney has an excellent singing voice, but not necessarily the greatest of all time. Another good example would be Louis Armstrong, who had a terrible singing voice, but both Sir Paul and Satchmo had among the strongest "musicality" of anyone ever born, and that musicality is what people hear when they listen.
