Best Singers of All Time
The Contenders: Page 4
Jason Derulo USED to be a great artist, but was then sucked into the inescapable black hole that is our generation and produced trash like "Talk Dirty To Me" and "Wiggle". It's a shame to see a promising artist go bad with garbage songs like those two.
Jason Derulo, your song wiggle sucks. Come up with a song without butts in it
He's The Best, And deserves top 10 place
He can't sing at ALL, what is he doing here? - DCfnafV 23 Comments
I had no idea Demi Lovato and Britney Spears are so talented! I think Janis should be a little closer to #1 than #136.
Yep, faith lost. I guess Taylor Swift is better than Janis Joplin. She's not 1 but top 15 would have been suitable. 88 though? WOW. - therootbeer
Janis Joplin was a pioneer of hard rock and one of the greatest artists of all time. She led the way for all the women that ranked higher than her.
Janis Joplin is a voice that won't be heard EVER again in the world. She was a one and only and nobody will have the same talent again. And all of these vocalists that can be easily replaced are above her. What a joke. - PlonderssV 14 Comments
Justin bieber over eminem and bob dylan what hell is this list. He is a legend of all times
SO unfair! GO and see the rolling stone magazine!
What the hell is Bob doing on 100! He's a legend undoubtedly! He isn't just the greatest singer he's the greatest song writer! He deserves top ten at least!
He is the best singer
He must be at top5 at least
HE IS WORTH NO1
I don't understand why Hansi is so low. His vocal range reaches nearly four octaves. More than half of the singers in the top thirty or so are practically all popular pop singers who really aren't good. All the good singers are lower on the list because people don't know them. Hansi should be much higher on this list because he is amazing. Not only in his vocals, but also in the lyrics he writes. Just take the album Nightfall in Middle-Earth, from Blind Guardian. He wrote all those lyrics himself and sung them all too. His voice is very powerful and everyone should recognize his talent.
Amazingly expressive, powerful, dynamic, massive vocal range... This guy composes his own material and performs it with greater aptitude than any of these punks that got a higher spot. Just give night at the opera by blind guardian or demons and wizards debut. You will KNOW who is the true best!
He should be much higher. These lists are so messed up. People vote for popular singers and not for the best. Hansi is a very impressive singer - he's got a powerful and expressive voice, and vocal technique of multi-layered vocals that was used by Freddie Mercury. - Metal_Treasure
This guy should be in the top 10 at least - christangrantV 5 Comments
What the hell is the problem with all you ignaroids, bon scott had the greatest voice of time. - acdcfan1
To be able to scream such raw sound and then to come back with cheeky smoothness is amazing
Bon scott would beat all of em in a showdown way is he not number 1 way damn it way
Under Ariana Grande?
GET LOST! - DaringXx
Please vote for her I think she is the best singer of all time I just love her I want to see her at the top 5 I just love her songs her voice is also so sweet loovee please give her all your votes everyday her nabeel
I think selena gomez is a great singer she is number 23 for top 25 celebrities she rules she is beautiful selena gomez works on the show wizards of Waverley place.
She is the best female singer to ever live guys. Some of her songs get over 100 million views and way more likes than dislikes. I understand most girls are jealous at her because she is dating, or was, Justin "idiot" Bieber but very few liked both. She is actually the only singer of today to make some of my favorite songs the rest are classic songs. Her song "who says" is actually my favorite song.
Yes. Selena is definitely a very very good singer.. I personally love her deep voice and I love her vibrato. She's not number one but she's definitely in top 20! - sscon123V 212 Comments
The incredible trills of her fortissimos riffs shake the soul of anybody that has one. While she doesn't have the deep timbre of a Dinah Washington or the piercing soprano of Melanie, her artistic command of the mid-ranges stands supreme among the singers of her youthful era. Even in this era, only Celine Dion can sing with such majesty and power.
If you just formed a nation, Barbra is the one who's singing your anthem.
wow! no one compares to her, I am
a female impersonator of many singers, she is the one singer I have to concentrate and focus on the most. many singers I impersonate come very easily to me
she is the one that takes the most
concentration, her length of holding onto those notes wow!
I can hardly believe Barbra isn't in the top 5 - she has the purist pitch, tone, flexibility, resonance and range of any singer in the era of electronic recording - she is the singers singer. She is of such a higher standard then most of this list - Listen to her in her 20's and 30's on you tube - so many beautiful songs made so because of her voice. Pamela R
The one and only. Very few singers have a six decade career.V 31 Comments
Luther Vandross had one of the best vocal ranges, if not the best, ever. He could sing any song and he had one of the most purest, soulful, and sincerest voices of all time. He collected 8 Grammy awards with 4 of them being Best Male R&B Vocal Performance; he also sold over 25 million albums. Luther Vandross is one of the most influencial singers of all time and should be voted the greatest singer of all time.
This man is hands down one of the most talented singers ever. For him to be this low, far below the likes of Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, is an absolute joke. RIP Luther. Go listen to his rendition of A House is Not a Home, and try to tell me otherwise. - guizzy
people clearly dont know good singers
He is amazing! - NicoleJohnnyLutherBrianFanV 7 Comments
I swear the voters on this webpage just fail. Flat-out fail. There is no way Roger Daltrey could be so far on the list. The Who brought us some of the best instrumentalists of all time, plus the best singer, how the hell are they nowhere on this site? - TKDCats312
Roger Daltrey HAS to be one of the top 5 greatest ROCK singers. "Won't get fooled again"
It just doesn't get any better!!
That's it. This is the last i ever have to do with this site. It is insulting to see Daltrey so low, Love Reign O'er Me is the epitomy of Rock and Roll. Goodbye.
Daltrey is Top 5. No question about it.V 30 Comments
Honestly, one of the best MALE singers of all time. Should be A LOT higher on the list, like top 20. The girls love him and most guys whether or not they want to admit it he has a killer voice plus he gets all the girls guys dream they could get.
His voice quality is different from others... Too good!
Where is he?! Timberlake is totally the best singer. He seems to have just the right voice for his different songs. He expresses how he feels in the best of ways, and I can relate to him a lot. You are crazy to not put JT on here. And what about Timbaland and KanYe West? Your list makes me sick.
How isn't he higherV 62 Comments
I live in Mississippi, and Soul and the Blues are very popular around here. And I remember the first time I heard Sam Cooke, I was with some friends and it came on the radio, the song was "A Change Gonna Come", and it spoke to me so deeply. All the emotion he put into the song, it was simply amazing. He could almost whisper at times and then hit the high notes gracefully, and switching between those like the flick of a switch. I love Sam Cooke, and I hope others can learn to also. He may have passed away in '64, but his music is still loved today. You know what they say, "The shine outlives the star. "
One of the best voices ever recorded, you felt every note he sang, so great he was nicknamed Mr. Soul. In my opinion truly one of the greatest singers of all time.
What I don't understand is how The Rolling Stone - A highly respected magazine - has Cooke at #4 on their list, and you guys have him at 99.
Oh no he should be a lot higher than this. This list sucks even though my favorites are on it. How are some stupid artists over Sam Cooke? Katy Perry's corny ass over him. You people need to be ashamed of yourselves.V 17 Comments
Duh. Hayley. She shouldn't be top 100, she should be top 20. Okay, so her voice, compared to others is THAT good, but you have to understand she has no head voice. Which is a disadvantage to her. However, she can still sing as well and even better than most of the singers out there. Although one's voice might be important, it is also crucial that you have really good stamina to sing. Hayley has both of them. She runs while singing all of Paramore's songs and she is always able to sing well even after running around the stage or even headbanging. I mean, THAT uses a lot of energy. But she still can sing. SO WHY IS SHE PUT SO LOW, WHEN HER VOICE IS SIMPLY BRILLIANT? I'm confused, really.
Hayley does have a head voice. She usually belts the high notes though, instead - jaxie
Number 109? Surely the world has gone mad!
Her vocals are amazing and so are Paramore - she should definitely be in a much, much higher position than this. I mean, Justin Bieber above the amazing, inspirational Miss Williams? Come on! What is going through your minds, people.
Paramore's live performances are among the best, full of energy and excitement! She knows how to get the crowd going!
my hayley! you are the best singer of all time! at least she should be near Amy Lee! or in the top 100!

Singer of Shinedown.
One of the most unique and powerful voices in rock history.
One of the most passionate singers I have ever seen or heard.
An incredible songwriter and source of inspiration.
Immensely talented with the microphone and a great person all in all.
Brent is the best by far! Check out any Shinedown album and judge for yourself!
His voice range is amazing but he's not very widely recognized. If anyone reads this check out Smith & Meyers so you can hear some of his amazing covers.
Only few have a voice like this guy.V 5 Comments
Oh how I love his voice, and his song.
I love his cover of Sway, and the best if Save The Last Dance For Me.
Umm Michael buble has at least to get top 20 come on his voice is pure gold and he definitely beats Justin Bieber by a long shot.
listen to him, and you'll know
He is plan out amazing. His voice rules all other voices. My dad once said you can't get any better voical than himV 12 Comments
Seriously? #152? Wow, all of you britany spears and lady gaga fanboys/girls need to get your heads out of the proverbial arse of the modern music industry and become enlightened to the king of soul! This may be a bit of a culture shock to you, due to the gaping chasm of class seperating so-called "singers" and true musicians being so unfathomably wide that I weep at the very thought of how they are recognised as todays greats. Classics such as "mans world" are both beautiful and poignent, sending chills to my very core. With such a mastery of tone and pitch, added with iconic performances and personna, I can only hope his music can still thrive amongst the garbage of today.
If it wasn't for this legend, there would be no, and I mean NO michael jackson. Michael jackson is my favorite singer but I have to thank James brown for this reason
James Brown was a great singer for Motown. Michael Jackson thought of him as a role model. I can tell because Michael went to his funeral. Now both of them are in heaven, resting peacefully with God.
The artist that was known as the godfather of soul, the man that created the sound that was funk and the inspiration for artists such as Michael Jackson and Prince along with being one of the most sampled artists in rap deserves way more than a #95 on this list.V 10 Comments
I am shocked where Jeff is, he is clearly one of the greatest singers of all time. I would say No. 1
His voice was so powerful and full of emotion and also had and unbelievable range. This is someone withoiut vocal training like most the fake people on this list. It doesn't matter how many records these people sold! its how beautiful the music and lyrics are. Jeff should at least be in the top 10... - Adam0209M
THIS IS THE GREATEST MUSIC ARTIST IN HISTORY AND THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. I've never seen someone with the talent that Jeff Buckley had inside him. My admiration for him renders me speechless. A voice as angelic and unhuman as Freddie Mercury's, lyrics as extraordinary as Dylan's, guitar playing skills with the flair of Jimmy Page and a charisma that only Bowie could equate. This man and his music transcend reality and earthly art. I would never forgive humanity for ranking him #91.
All you people should be ashamed of yourselves to not have Jeff Buckley even in the top 10. No-one has a better, more beautiful voice than Jeff and he should definitely be No. 1
Jeff is definitely one of the best singers in history, it's sad he's gone too early, in my opinion it's TOP1V 33 Comments
She is the best female singer
I don't believe this list
She must be in top
She has a very good voice and she is so talented
More than this singers that are in the top of the list
She is the best latino star in Hollywood..
She is Queen..
I know, many people hate her but get real - she is by far the most versatile and unique female dancer! Her 1999-2003 music is unbeatable. Her modern music is a bit worse but she still makes catchy and inspirational music. Jenny is a fantastic performer! - Lacritia
Nice voice but her songs seem the same to meV 43 Comments
Before I start this I would like to mention the fact that someone's favourite singer is subjective, however a "best" singer is decided by in my opinion, innovation and talent.
Alright here is what really grinds my gears, so many talentless "singers" are ahead of one of the most talented Jazz singers period. Nicki Minjaj? Madonna? Chris Brown? Rihanna? Arianna Grande? I could on for days but I think you get the point. Even two of my favourite singers on Bob Dylan and Thom Yorke are above Billie and even that upsets me. Why?
Billie Holidays ability to interpret songs and manipulate them into the most honest sounding and personal songs ever is completely undervalued on this list. Listen to songs like I'm a Fool to Want You or I Get Along Without You Very Well and you will understand what I saying.
Another one of Holidays strengths was her ability to adapt to her changes in voice. It's clear that there is a decline in power in her vocals from her ...more
I highly recommend her to you the precursor of all soul sisters
This list is messed up. Billie Holiday sang from the heart and added her own take on every song she sang. She should be in the top 20 at the least.
Billie Holiday is nr 1 and then there are a long way to all the others!V 3 Comments
Going solo seems to be a labor of love more often than not, and it's an opportunity for an artist (frontman or otherwise) to delve into unexpected genres or styles. Deep Purple's Ian Gillan is no stranger to the solo project, with many of his personal endeavors of the past 20 years taking a more watered-down approach to the Deep Purple tradition. Gillan's latest album One Eye To Morocco, shows that the singer is perfect & might be returning to form. Gillan is still a capable vocalist, but the edge that was present in songs like Highway Star is gone at this point. At the age 60+, this shouldn't be a huge shocker and edginess probably wasn't the singer's intention anyhow. For me, he is the No. 1!
why did I have to scroll so far down, I mean he's not even on the first page!
i was gonna vote for Robert Plant or Freddy Mercury, but seeing Ian so low on the list ill just vote for him
come on, no one can sing Child In Time exept for Gillan
he's also one of the best live singers
he also performed the role of Jesus in the original Jesus Christ super star btw
The number of singers that had the chops of Ian Gillian in the early 70's are very few in numbers. Showboating a powerful, masculine voice Ian also had screaming high notes, the likes of which had never been heard before. While the few other male singers that could hit high notes sang like girls (i.e. Robert Plant) Ian had a strong hold over the low notes as much as the high notes and he delivered them both with machismo. - GuitarZero
Are you serious? Big Ian on 119. place? Seriously? He is one of the greatest vocalist of all time. His legendary falsettos, great vocal range and his unique baritone should be enough to be at least in the first TOP10!V 23 Comments
His so... AMAZING. AMAZING VOICE. AMAZING BAND. AMAZING MAN. AMAZING MUSICIAN. I can't describe how I love him. My Chemical Romance would never be the same without him. He's one of the best singers I've ever known. GO GEE!
Gerard Way is possibly the best singer ever. My Chemical Romance is the best band ever and he should totally be higher!
Hey! What's up w/ this list! Gerard should be higher than 56. THIS IS so WRONG!
He should be higher man. Just listen to the way he sings. I have not met one person who dislikes them.V 335 Comments
