124 Thom Yorke Thom Yorke Thomas Edward "Thom" Yorke is an English musician best known as the singer and principal songwriter of the alternative rock band Radiohead.

There are very few singers who can emote as effortlessly as Thom York can. Not only does his voice sound impeccable on recordings, but live he rarely ever falls flat or goes sharp. He has an extremely wide range singing as low as Nick Drake or Tom Waits, but can also effortless hit high notes that very few singers can match. His falsetto oozes emotion, and has the ability to move people to tears.

The measure of a good singer shouldn't be on technicality alone, but also on their ability to move people. This is Thom's strongest asset. He is also one of the most influential singers with everyone from Chris Martin, Israel Nebeker, and Matthew Bellamy amongst many others...

Also I recently heard Matt Pinfield cite Thom as always being professional and singing beautifully, stating one of his fondest memories of 120 minutes being Thom singing early in the morning and singing Fake Plastic Trees.

When you listen his voice in Everything in its Right Place, Reckoner, Exit Music for a Film, Pyramid Song, 2+2=5, There There, Last Flowers, Jigsaw Falling into Place How to Disappear Completely, Idioteque, Nude, No Surprises, Paranoid Android, House of Cards, Street Spirit or Harrowdown Hill (solo career ) you get to realize he's amongst the best and always will be, try and check some live versions too. Either powerful, cheerful, nostalgic, voidifying, inspiring, futuristic and yet so ancient-like, heartbreaking or heartwarming, always overwhelming and magical.

He infulenced an entire generation of singers with his use of falsetto and his vocal range. The most emotional voice since Neil Young. Period.

Hands down top 10

125 Andrea Bocelli Andrea Bocelli Andrea Bocelli, OMRI, OMDSM is an Italian classical crossover tenor, recording artist, and singer-songwriter. Born with poor eyesight, he became permanently blind at the age of 12 following a football accident.

Andrea Bocelli should be way on the top. His voice is beyond beautiful, and sings from his heart. Yes he is blind, but I still love him. Because of him I began to like his music a lot more. I even had began to sing his songs, and had gotten better. People tell me that I have a beautiful voice like him, but I don't think so. They told me that I should join the choir, but I think it will take me years. And even then I will not come close to him. Is not easy to sing his songs, they're really challenging. But I have already learned to control my voice so is not difficult to do. But I do it for fun, but long live Bocelli anyways.

He made high-brow opera more accessible to the unsophisticated

I am melted hearing his voices. I owe you full Andrea Bocelli. Can we sing together?

126 Prince Prince Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21st, 2016) was an American musician, best known for being one of the most popular and influential artists from the 80s, with songs such as "Purple Rain", "Little Red Corvette", "1999", and "When Doves Cry" .

Numerous Albums and no1 hits, vocal range is insane, entertainment factor is outstanding not to mention he records all his own instruments and dances like no tomorrow, if we are going on popularity then yes choose your poppy sensation but if we are bring it down to singing then prince should be definitely up there he isn't considered one of the greats for no reason!

Listen to "adore" or 'extraordinary' and 'the arms of orion' duet with sheena Eastern and then 'the most beautiful girl in the world'---such vocal range is amazing without compare. Then try 'i like it there' and 'damn u'... He ought to be charted higher, and he will be in time once you've been well exposed to more of his music

He should not be down here! He his vocals are INCREDIBLE and if it weren't for Prince, most of the people above him wouldn't be here! MOVE HIM UP!

Dearly beloved - MayaBella

128 James Labrie James Labrie Kevin James LaBrie is a Canadian vocalist and songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the American progressive metal band Dream Theater.

Obviously most people in today's society have never even heard of Dream Theater, as today's music industry is all revolved mostly around the rap and pop scene. If only these people could have the ability to spread their tastes and try listening to something as talented as this, then this band might actually change their opinion on what music they like. Dream Theater is no doubt one of the most technical bands in history, and they are considered to be one of the best bands in the Progressive genre, if not the most popular. I am a huge supporter and loyal fan of Dream Theater, and will never let any of their CD's lie around for a couple weeks without being played.

James Labrie is possibly the greatest singer in the progressive metal genre. He has outstanding range! I couldn't imagine anyone else singing for Dream Theater in the way he does.

Dream Theater's vocalist, great range, awesome frontman, better than much of the people in this list.

He sings a lot, being prog. He could be better though. - Lucretia

132 Maynard James Keenan Maynard James Keenan Maynard James Keenan, often referred to by his initials MJK, is an American musician, record producer, winemaker, and actor, best known as the vocalist for Grammy Award-winning progressive metal band Tool.

If you Listen to Tool & A Perfect Circle and read the lyrics and all you who are voting for others will realize that Maynard James Keenan has most likely made the greatest vocal contribution to the world's music library of all singers so far. His vocal range is vast, from soft light and sensitive to heavy all consuming passion. Delivering the sacred words of life through intelligent & thought provoking lyrics. There is always an undeniable wisdom & subtlety in the lyrics & their delivery.
The instrumentation is always very unique. The Rhythms are very pure & polished and resonate perfectly with the emotion of the songs.
There is always an underlying Intelligence in the songs that reveals itself as the song progresses. With sensitivity, Maynard sings in ways that are therapeutic to the soul. Tribal and primal. Something very special for mankind.

I hate sounding like a Tool fanboy, but the fact that Maynard is even on the same list as folks like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, let alone below them, is a symptom of what is wrong with modern culture. This guy is seriously talented and his ability to drag you through emotions with his style is pretty amazing.

Never got that feeling listening to "Toxic".

This list is a joke. There's no reason for Maynard to be any lower than the top 5. I don't even see Geoff Tate on the list. This is just ridiculous. Sure MJ had a great voice, but Elton John's was used more dynamically. Sure, some 80's rock singers had great ranges, but Maynard's is just as good if not better than most... Not only that, but he can use that range softly, loudly, and passionately.

I think I saw Chester Bennington up there. Are you guys serious? You think he can scream? Listen to Ticks and Leaches, Eulogy, and Grudge? He's got power and length and can easily transition into the softest voice in rock in an instant. This list is a Joke.

He is the greatest and not even half ass pop fan driven ratings can deny that

lol... this list is a joke! Karen Carpenter at #58?

My favorite vocalist, by far, is Karen Carpenter. Her voice has an inherent melancholy quality which makes it perfect for the Carpenters' many melancholy and sad songs. She had such a vulnerability in her voice that it makes me want to give her a comforting hug.

Nowhere will you find a voice as smooth and silky as hers. Some people say Barbra Streisand's voice is "like butter. " I believe that distinction belongs to Karen.

But Karen's voice possesses so many qualities and facets that I love. It is soothing and sweet, loving. And sometimes when she hits those super-low notes, it sends a chill up my spine to this day.

And sometimes when she is singing tenderly, her voice crackles, and again, you hear that vulnerability.

Some other adjectives I can use to describe her voice are warm, sincere, touching, loving, and soothing. It wraps you up like a fluffy blanket on a cold day. The emotion ...more - jonk0469

Karen had the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life time. Perfect pitch awesome vibrato and just sang effortless. She made you listen to the words with perfect phrasing and timming. Karen was not a belter and when you added a mic to that voice out came this flawless instrument, she knew her talent. No one can come close to that god given voice. Karen never made a mistake and it has been said she was incapable of singing off key. Amazing singer.

KC has the best voice I ever heard in my life.

1. Karen Carpenter
2. Mario Lanza

138 George Michael George Michael Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, known professionally by his stage name George Michael, is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer.

Why is George Michael #98? He can sing and write better than all of these artists! I think he should be up with Freddie Mercury.

George is the definition of a GREAT ARTIST. And why is Justin Bieber on this list? I guess people don't know good music...

The list is ridiculous. Rating a singer on the the basis of cult status is not good, like the others have been rated. Here the list says Best singers of all time, and I strongly believe George is one of the best ever. You need to hear his songs to actually believe it. Amazing gift.

It was pure and perfect in his twenties and thirties, but now his voice is richer and more interesting, sometimes heartbreakigly beautiful, especially in his ballads.

he's great

139 Brendon Urie Brendon Urie Brendon Boyd Urie, more commonly known as Brendon Urie, was born April 12, 1987, in St. George, Utah. He is an American singer, songwriter, musician and multi-instrumentalist. He is best own as the lead singer of the American pop-rock band Panic! At The Disco. He is the only original remaining member. ...read more.

This is bull. Brendon urie is an amazing singer. While people rate Katy Perry in the top 20, brendon's down here at 199. what. So many good singers are being shamed by the new generation, Alice Cooper, Prince, even Elton John is behind singers with no talent like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna. Back to urie, he has a better vocal range than the legend Freddy Mercury, consisting of four octaves and seven notes, and his lyrics are better than most of the popular music today. Just go listen to all of Panic! At The Disco's albums, singles, and even Brendon's solo stuff at the Billy Joel tribute and at Miss Universe, you won't be disappointed.

Why is Drake voted higher than him? He can't even SING. Brendon has a voice like a GOD. He is so underrated and it makes me sad. Same with Tyler Joseph, Patrick Stump, and Gerard Way. They only have their "mainstream" songs. Which for some reason, society likes to pick the ones where their voices aren't always magnificent. Like in Victorious, Brendon hit REALLY high notes in that one, but in Golden Days, when he sings Golden Days, it blows it off the roof. Tyler's voice in Stressed Out compared to Fairly Local. Patrick's voice compared to Centuries, to What A Catch, Donnie. Gerard's voice compared to Welcome To The Black Parade, to Sing.

His voice is magnificent, and if you watch the APMAs for 2015 the band New Politics called him God. He is a man who can swoon a girl just by hitting one note. Everyone likes Brendon. My sister and I, sometimes fight about turning off Fall Out Boy, because she is tired of Patrick's voice. And turning off My Chemical Romance, because I'm tired of Gerard's voice. But never once have we argued to turn off Panic! At the Disco. His voice is magic. It makes you want to listen to him. At a young age he came into the world of fame, and he will be the wonderful Brendon Urie until the day he dies.

Why is he at #138?!? He is amazing and hardly deserves to be under other crappy singers like Rihanna, and Taylor Swift.
