Smartest Fairy Tail Characters

This guy is a complete genius! He's the most diverse character in the show, and he has mastered all four basic elements, AND he's the youngest Wizard Saint ever! He became a Wizard Saint using Half of his powers. He also learned and casted extremely complicated and advanced spells like Square of Self-Destruction successfully after being explained how to just once. And he managed to copy Mystogan's magic in only a few days, and has used it during the GMG and went toe to toe against a Wizard Saint. He's a prodigy, he learns things so fast. Not to mention single-handedly infiltrated the Council...

Genius. He found out the way to revive the dead when he was just a kid, so I think he should be above Mavis though Mavis's intelligence is focused on more.

He found a way to revive his brother, and create many demons. He's a genius in my opinion

She manipulated Jellal, second on this list, like a pro. She orchestrated and executed so many plans throughout the series. She broke into a magic council high security prison and freed one of their most important convicts. Not to mention she learned Arc of Time at a very young age, and learned ice make magic without your's guidance.

Ultear is exceptionally smart! She tricked a lot of people into believing her.

She is the brains of the Fairy Tail Guild and the Shikamaru (from Naruto) of the show. She is definitely the smartest character but doesn't get notoriety because she gets gets no character development in the show. She reads an infinite number of books - nonstop and just keeps reading -. She is the smartest character in the show but this list is more about popularity than actual intelligence.

I don't see why she isn't number one. Sure the people above her are good at magic/know how to use magic. The people above her are mostly just knowledgeable in one area, while Levy knows lots about what seems like everything. Sure some people might say, "Well these people were smart as kids." Well we don't know much about Levys background so she could have been smarter as a kid.

She is not good when it comes to fighting but she is very intelligent. Hiro Mashima mentioned that Lucy is actually the most intelligent character in team natsu. She has proved her extreme intelligence in tenrou island arc. She also saved Natsu by rewriting E.N.D.

She may be book smart, but she truly is a blonde bimbo in terms of logic and battle technique. She is smart but her arrogance clouds her mind and she ends up being pretty much stupid.

She rewrote END... that's all. This example is enough to prove her intelligence and the way she explained where is mavis grave was super awesome!

In my opinion she's nearly the smartest. She always seems to figure things out before the others do. She figured out nearly all the giant battles her and her team had and yet for some reason people over look that.

Erza is very Good at Coming up with a plan,and with her knowledge at sword fighting and hand to hand combat.
