Top Ten Songs of 2016 According to Complex

So, I recently (in early 2018) had this awesome idea of retrospectively compiling my ten favorite tracks of the year 2016, which I thought had some great music to offer. Of course, I was also interested in what other best lists had to say were the greatest songs of the year, so I took a look at three music magazines with very different approaches: the big mainstream reviewers of Rolling Stone, Germany's super duper pseudo-sophisticated laut.de, and the laid back, passionate team at Complex.

I really enjoy Complex's best rankings. Because they neither overly emphasize nor hate the mainstream. They definitely form their own unbiased opinion that sometimes collide with the popular one, but not always. Sometimes they like a more unknown song by a famous artist more than the big hit. Sometimes they think the year's big pop hit was indeed its best song. Whatever they pick, I can understand their decision, and while in this particular list their choices are about as mainstream as Rolling Stone's, the short texts that go along with the listings are much more passionately written and appear to be completely authentic. Out of three lists, laut.de had the most interesting and best choices, while Complex's article was most interesting to read.
