Top Ten Songs that are Mistakenly Considered to Be Death Metal

The Top Ten
1 Beneath the Remains - Sepultura

Death metal is classical inspired. Not blues inspired.

2 Pleasure to Kill - Kreator
3 Needled 24 / 7 - Children of Bodom
4 Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
5 Bleed - Meshuggah
6 Kissing the Shadows - Children of Bodom

COB are brilliant but it's not Death Metal, It's Melodeath and many people tend to forget it so I agree with you about listing their songs on here, this song is one of the best though, but no where near Death Metal.
Obituary are a great example of how "real" Death Metal should sound, at least in my opinion.

If you listen carefully, this song is power metal with folk tunes - it only has harsh vocals / death growls. Besides, gallops aren't typical for death metal. This song is neither death metal nor melodeath (melodic death metal).

The solo sounds like a power metal solo to me.

7 Decapitation Fornication - Infant Annihilator
8 Arise - Sepultura
9 Angel of Death - Slayer

I'd say this prototype Death Metal :P. I know its Thrash, but who can't deny about Slayer's influence on Extreme Metal. Also, "Angel of Death" is just classic aggression and scare, no wonder its an inspiration for Death Metal in years to come.

10 Disengage - Suicide Silence
The Contenders
11 Release the Panic - Red

Seriously How?
