Best Songs of Bal-Sagoth

Bal-Sagoth originally began in the late 1980s as one of vocalist/lyricist Byron's idealistic flights of fancy... a high concept project intended to take the form of a sublimely symphonic black/death metal band swathed in a lyrical concept of dark fantasy & science-fiction, inspired by the celebrated style of the grand pulp horror and fantasy literature of the 1930s, whilst simultaneously being infused with the baroque and arcane mysteries of ages long past and Byron's enduring fascination with ancient mythology and occultism

The Top Ten

1 Callisto Rising

This Song by far is my favorite bal-sagoth song because it illustrates bal-sagoths symphonic and very distinguished sound that sets them apart from most symphonic metal bands. Now it's hard to find the number one best bal-sagoth song but I could literally listen to this song and never get tired of it. The beginning is fantastic because of the witty notes played in the first few seconds then there's the trumpet that calls you to battle and then the heavy melodic guitar riffs that are hard to pull off and the instrumentation is perfect because it goes along with the vocals pretty much note by note that and the vocals and the melodic guitar riff in the chorus is catchy and very interesting and especially hard to play. The screaming vocals that cry "Callisto Rising" are great too along with the awesome synthesizer in he background as well. This song in my opinion defines the sound of Bal-sagoth or as they call it "The Power Cosmic." - Solthor
