I used to hate this song with a passion, but I later realized that it was written to be intentionally saccharine, as a way of telling the record company to "[insert expletive here] themselves". I gained a strange appreciation for the song after that.
John Fogerty wrote this song in protest to Richard Nixon's administration for ignoring Vietnam War protestors. It's very spooky sounding.
