Top Ten Songs on Coldplay's Music of the Spheres

The Top Ten
1 Higher Power

While it wasn't the best song on the album, it was a good start and had an 80s-inspired beat. The biggest pet peeve is that it's a bit off-tempo. It would have honestly sounded more fitting at 180 beats per minute (45 measures per minute), which is literally 1.5 times the average pace of a track, which is usually 120 bpm (30 bars per minute). Coldplay sure knows math and science. It's 178 bpm (44.5 notes per minute) instead, and that's a big near-miss from the potential it had, given it's a pop song, which means popular music.

Like I said, it wasn't meant to be the best, but a good song to start with in this album, even though "🪐" is really the first track and serves as a prelude to it all.

2 Coloratura

This is the grand finale of it all. A perfect masterpiece that combines space rock with progressive rock & immerses us with a storyline & a whopping 10 minute 18 second duration (making it Coldplay's longest song to date). Though it's been likened to Pink Floyd's songs (especially from their album Dark Side of the Moon), it was perfectly executed & somehow put all that to a whole new level with a modern & magical twist. This's as close as we'll truly get to a new Bohemian Rhapsody in this generation were living in right now as when I wrote this. Many of today's "songs" are really just wastes of sounds by these so-called "artists & bands", but this is a true masterpiece that is filled with magic, inspiration & a great theme. Yet it deserves better ratings than you could even think.

We rarely get 10 minute songs from mainstream artist right now.

3 Biutyful

Coldplay decided to change the pitch of their voices & use low pass filtering in order to sound like 1 of those tiny E.T. creatures held in a tank. Yet unlike many "songs" today which use Auto-Tune abusively in the wake of replacing true vocal talent, Coldplay however did it right & it served as a vocal character role. It's meant to represent a mini E.T. complimenting every world (including Earth). They nailed it.

4 My Universe

The top of all the worlds in this album. The way it started is just a powerful beginning of an epic adventure in story & pride. We are the universe & it's within us. Yet the music video got over 19M views on YouTube in 24 hours & while that's like the most Coldplay ever got in a day, it was actually hoped to get 30M views in 24 hours & BTS lately have been getting more than that multiple times. It became their 1st song in 13 YEARS to hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 (since Viva La Vida in 2008). The vocals, the story are all perfect & powerful. Though danceability isn't as it's a moderately slow song & the melody sounds like an almost exact replica of Little Mix's zippiest dance song (Breakup Song). The ending has an exotic choir pause before the last bit plays & it gets us out of that world onto a trip through infinity & the cosmos.

5 Let Somebody Go

Selena Gomez really nailed her vocals on this song & her vocals are smoother than she's usually been doing lately. The idea that betrayal can ruin a part of life can really lead to ending love, but we should never forget who we are.

6 Humankind

1 of 2 tracks playing at a particular key & pace (D major & 135 bpm or 33.75 measures/bars/notes per minute), with the other being ♾. However both tracks have individual genres. This is pop rock & it doesn't stop this song from being worth listening to. You can still move it like you mean it & it puts all the trashy stuff in modern mainstream music to shame especially. The story is inspiring & tells us we are important who we are.

7 People of the Pride

This song has gotten the least positive reviews on the album, but it's a great way to end ❤️, a smooth transition. We should feel proud of who we are though. This is 1 of the songs where Coldplay used profanity though many songs nowadays do & we're stuck in crippled generation (even though profanity has been in music for ages).

8 ♡ (Human Heart)

It's a great track to play when we're getting closer to the holiday season. Warm & fuzzy like you can think. Although Pentatonix will always be among the top of today's acapellas, Coldplay seems to be in competition with their lyrical vocals. It's a ❤️ for a reason.

9 ∞ (Infinity Sign)
10 *✧ (Alien Choir)

This's the interlude that led to Let Somebody Go, which included Selena Gomez.

The Contenders
11 ⦵ (Music of the Spheres I)

The 1st track on the whole album, serving as a prelude leading to Higher Power. Yet it's a perfect intro for the journey through the system & the cosmos.

12 ❍ (Music of the Spheres II)

This's where the crowd goes wild & all the Biutyful creatures chant for the universal anthem (My Universe).
