Best Songs from the Eurovision Song Contest from the 21st Century

The Top Ten Best Songs from the Eurovision Song Contest from the 21st Century

Cool Vibes - Vanilla Ninja (Switzerland 2005)

This is one of my favorite bands and the album this is on is one of my favorites.
It just has to be my personal favorite Eurovision entry of this century.
It's just a bit weird that an Estonian band entered the contest for Switzerland. - Martin_Canine

Rise Like a Phoenix - Conchita Wurst (Austria 2014)

This song is also among my top ten songs of the 2010s in general. It has an amazing composition, extremely powerful vocals and the overall build up gives you goosebumps.
Conchita Wurst's message came just at the right time, and in her home country she started a huge LGBT rights movement with this massive hit song and became a national icon. - Martin_Canine

Best performance and song I have ever seen and
heard at ESC

Alvedansen - Christine Guldbrandsen (Norway 2006)

A new age folklore song that will give you goosebumps with its sheer grace and beauty.

According to Wikipedia, she has released four albums, but unfortunately I can't find them anywhere over here. - Martin_Canine

1944 - Jamala (Ukraine 2016)

A deeply personal song about the deportation of the Crimean Tartars in 1944. It pushes the boundaries of the non-political rules of the ESC, but it is nevertheless a powerful and emotive song that interpolates traditional elements in modern music and creates an intense soundscape. - Martin_Canine

Molitva - Marija Serifovic (Serbia 2007)

It's almost symphonic, and it's one of the most melodious songs I heard in the ESC of the 21st Century. This is overall a perfect example of the type of sound I like most. - Martin_Canine

Fight - Natalia Barbu (Moldova 2007)

Symphonic rock with an intense background that sounds like the soundtrack to a fantasy blockbuster combined with rock. - Martin_Canine

Run and Hide - Gracia (Germany 2005)

Pop as pop should be. Melodious, memorable and powerful. Also: the vocals. I just like this type of voice. - Martin_Canine

Un Blodymary - Las Ketchup (Spain 2006)

What can I say? It just has an outstanding and unique sound in pop, also I like this summer hit is in minor. - Martin_Canine

Euphoria - Loreen (Sweden 2012)
Love Injected - Aminata (Latvia 2015)

I didn't know Latvia has a Björk of its own, but this song left that impression. - Martin_Canine

The Contenders

Occidentali's Karma - Francesco Gabbani (Italy 2017)

Too intellectual and meaningful for this bad event. Like 24k gold stored in a plastic bag.

If I Were Sorry - Frans (Sweden 2016)
Something Better - Softengine
Ghost - Jamie-Lee Kriewitz (Germany 2016)

There was no logical reason this song by a talented young newcomer who stands for indivuality to come in last place. How devastating that must be for her. It's her debut single and it's an awesome pop song. - Martin_Canine
