Songs That Perfectly Describe the Year 2020
I think we can all agree that 2020 is basically Hell. These songs mostly reflect the social issues of coronavirus, the George Floyd riots and those guys who are constantly on the news because they took down a statue of [insert name here], but there are obvious annual occurrences too, and if 2020 has more problems, feel free to point them out, or if the year improves, submit more optimistic songs, (for instance "Getting Better" by the Beatles.)
I figured I'd start out with a simple song that is kind of ironically formatted as "20/20 - Survivor" because at this point, surviving 2020 is a miracle.
I just wish people wouldn't slack so much about Covid.
2020 has been ass so far so I'm grateful I survived it.
20/20 is about 20/20 vision, but I get the irony

Put it in whatever context you want, but Help! seems fitting for every social issue put in the description of this list

Much like Help!, Livin' On a Prayer is fitting for COVID-19, the riots, and so on
because we are all livin' on a prayer right now

At this point, this song sums up 2020 in three words. The Rolling Stones are so optimistic.

This is what coronavirus literally is.

Another Coronavirus anthem. What a great year 2020 is.

Those rioters were exactly this. I envy you if you live elsewhere.

In other words, rioters.

Especially for me. I’m about to have a really bad month.

Wake me up when 2020 ends. (But if- and God forbid this- if 2021 sucks as much as 2020 has, let me sleep my life away.)
My September was pretty bad.
Don’t wanna sound excessively pessimistic, but September wasn’t that great in my opinion
It's October now (:
EDIT: wow it's December now
The Newcomers

One good thing about this year. It was a fantastic year for music and I’m not the only one to say that. Also pollution was lower than usual but that was because there was less travel and industry not because of actual systemic change.
I would also add New Years Day Taylor Swift but then that describes 2021 not 2020. Here’s to cleaning up the mess that 2020 left us together!

I honestly had never heard of this song before I just thought there had to be a song of this title out there.
So glad that this year is finally over, bad year for me personally, and bad year in general with the COVID.

It's funny that this album is called "Hands All Over," since that's exactly what we're trying to avoid, but I agree.
A pretty universal feeling as of 2020. I don't think I know a single soul who wasn't in misery during quarantine.
yes whoever put this song on here. you are so right

I considered ending my top 10 songs with "Welcome to Hell," but I decided to end this list on a high note and some optimism so, Don't Stop Believin' it is.
True, this year was ass but we still should believe in it and stay positive.
Thanks for having at least some optimism at the end.
we can't stop believin because if we do it's all over

True because this year been brazy but we should keep holding on.

Although this was obviously submitted for COVID-19, it's got a more personal meaning for me. (My sister's ex's sister died this Friday and my great aunt died yesterday.)

Everything sucks because the same people who are whining about 2020 were also whining about 2019. I bet they'll also whine about 2021.
Yeah, everything kinda does suck, to put it bluntly.
Exactly. Couldn’t describe it better
true so very true, I don't know who put this song on here, but it is the perfect song.

that's kind of cold

For when the world is properly reunited with their loved ones.
how many more days?

that is horrible, my mom really could not breathe on her own for five days, so this song is right, but also in very bad taste.

at lest I hope it's heaven.

Coronavirus, Donald Trump, Murder Hornets, Karens, Riots in Hong Kong, WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY? We didn't start 2020, it's been always burning since the world's been turning. I know some of it doesn't rhyme, but you know, Billy Joel is a god.
Bushfires in Australia...

As silly as this may be, it sums up my feelings for this year without actually using lyrics.
Yes because I want to summon a screaming goat and cure people's depression.
I played the sample and here are my thoughts: This is perfect. How ain't this #1?

The Long and Winding Year
