Best Songs to Play to Elderly People

The Top Ten
1 Child in Time - Deep Purple
2 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
3 Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

I disagree with the inclusion of Stairway and Bohemian Rhapsody on the list. They are considered eternal songs. I can still hear the atmosphere in the song that it was originally designed for young audiences.

4 Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
5 Hotel California - Eagles
6 Hush - Deep Purple

I wish my grandparents were cool enough that they listened to Deep Purple. They've always been into more sedate music. Oh well.

A YouTube comment: Makes us 60 yr. olds feel like teenagers again as we drive down the road.

7 While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles

I can clearly imagine an old man asking his wife whether she remembers the day they met while this song plays.

8 The River - Bruce Springsteen
9 Stepping Out With My Baby - Irving Berlin

Give a listen to the 1948 version by Fred Astaire. It's strange he himself claimed he did not have a good singing voice.

10 In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly

One of my favorite 1960s songs.

The Contenders
11 I Got a Woman - Ray Charles
12 Anything Goes - Frank Sinatra

The piano covers are very impressive as well.

13 Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
14 I Get Around - The Beach Boys

Second happiest song I have ever heard after a jazz influenced classical piece.

15 Once Upon a Time in the West - Dire Straits

My favorite Dire Straits song is Private Investigations but this is more suitable to play for an elderly person you want to have fun with.

16 Riders on the Storm - The Doors
17 Paradise by the Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf
18 Radar Love - Golden Earring
19 Private Investigations - Dire Straits
20 Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival
21 Honky Tonk Women - Rolling Stones
22 Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Judy Garland
23 I Say a Little Prayer - Dionne Warwick
24 Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley

Oh yes. The elderly definitely love Elvis.

25 Hitler Was a Sensitive Man - Anal C***
