Top 10 Songs on Savatage's Poets and Madmen

This was their last album, 2001, and one of their best. However, they re-united in 2014 and new albums are possible.

Savatage are an American metal band founded in 1979 by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva.
Subgenres - heavy metal, progressive metal (late), speed metal (early), power metal.
Savatage is one of the most underrated metal bands ever.

Jon Oliva has a 4 octave vocals range and besides, he can play all typical metal instruments - rhythm and lead guitars, drums, bass. And keyboards, incl. piano.
Criss died at 30 in 1993 in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. R.I.P. Criss.

Personnel:
Jon Oliva – lead vocals, keyboards
Chris Caffery - lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals
Johnny Lee Middleton – bass guitar, backing vocals

The Top Ten
1 Morphine Child

This is my #1 song by Savatage, not only from this album. Epic, emotional.
It's 10:12 minutes long but I wouldn't throw out a single note.

2 Commissar
3 Surrender

The riff is awesome and I think Bon Jovi ripped it off for their 2007 song 'We Got It Going On'. Sounds very similar to me.

4 Drive
5 There in the Silence
6 I Seek Power
7 Stay with Me Awhile
8 The Rumor
9 Man in the Mirror
10 Awaken
The Contenders
11 Back to a Reason
