Top Ten Songs from Taylor Swift's 1989

The Top Ten
1 Blank Space

This was my favorite ever song back in my Taylor phase. I came out of it for a while but kept listening to a few songs, but now I'm back, and this song is perfection. I remember thinking the chorus said something about Starbucks. LOL! I wouldn't be the person I am today without Taylor Swift, and this song is brilliant.

It's very nice, with a nice rhythm. I really love it and want to listen to it more and suggest you listen to this song. You will waste your time if you don't.

You are an amazing person! Blank Space is an amazing song! There is not a single song you've written that I do not like. Why should people not like you?

2 Style

I love Blank Space and Wildest Dreams, but the best HAS to be Style, which is about her ex, Harry Styles. One Direction came back with Perfect later on. Yes, it is great, but only because it's literally Style (no seriously, they sound completely alike). Blank Space is probably the funniest (as it's a self-parody), Wildest Dreams has the best meaning, and the message Taylor is giving is actually original other than a breakup song, but Style is the best in production, voice, instrumental, etc.

Sorry, but in my opinion, Style is way, WAY better than Blank Space! Blank Space is amazing, but Style is much more! The catchy tune forces you to groove along! The music, the vocals, and especially the ending portion is just outstanding. I simply love this song! Come on! Let's make this number one!

3 Wildest Dreams

Wildest Dreams is different from the rest of the 1989 album, but it is really really good. I mean, I fell in love with the song when I first heard it, and the music video is also really good. It basically explains all that a girl feels when she falls or starts dating a bad boy. She knows she's going to end up hurt and she's just going to be one of his one-night stands, but she still falls for his charm. AMAZING!

I think Blank Space and Wildest Dreams have to be my favorite from 1989, but I do really like the entire album. You'll never get tired of these songs, and while you play them on repeat, you get a chance to really appreciate some of the lyrics and just the talent poured into these songs.

4 Clean

Seriously, people, this is the All Too Well of 1989. After hearing Shake It Off, I felt like I had lost the lyrical genius of Taylor, or Taylor had lost her lyrical prowess, depending on my mood. But this made me know she still got it. It's easily the best song on 1989 with lovely instrumentation and the only 1989 song in my top 10 TS songs of all time. It's probably the only song on 1989 that, in its entirety, can contend with her lyrical masterpieces from previous albums. Others on 1989 have maybe 3 brilliant lines within them.

You can relate it to addiction of any sort. It's the song that gave me the feeling I got from the RED album (her best, in my opinion). IT IS A MASTERPIECE.

5 Out of the Woods

"Out of the Woods" is, in my opinion, one of the most moving and awe-inspiring things I have ever heard or seen from Taylor. I just recently got to listening to it and have watched the video on YouTube. I have to admit, it tore me apart emotionally, and I am still crying even now! Of course, a good cry though. It reminds me of my own hardships and struggles throughout much of my own life at various times, and at the same time gives me confidence and hope for an awesome future. I love you, Taylor. You are truly an inspiration.

6 New Romantics

Taylor will regret not putting this on the album. I still do not get it. This is my personal favorite and most relatable song on the album. Who can relate to having a mass celebrity feud? No one (normal). Who can relate to having a relationship gone wrong and turning it into a crazy fest? No one but Taylor. But yet, you can relate to New Romantics, a fun, dancy song about having fun, ignoring the past, and being the best you can be in life and so much more. I think you have heard enough.

This is by far my favorite album on the track. I love it because it is just like the kids who hate me would totally throw bricks at me, and I would build a castle. Oh, and heartbreak is totally our national anthem.

7 I Know Places

Not only is the tune catchy, but the lyrics are so clever: "Something happens when everybody finds out, see the vultures circling dark clouds", "They are the hunters and we are the foxes", "Loose lips sink ships all the damn time". I know we can't relate to being in the spotlight and chased by paparazzi, but I can relate to these lyrics in the sense of school and how rumors can be passed around so quickly, so it has the same effect.

Ahhh, great song. It immediately caught my attention when I first listened to 1989 because it gives goosebumps. Its tune creates a perfect mix with the lyrics. It describes perfectly the aspect of these kinds of relationships often unsupported by some people. Love it!

8 Shake It Off

My opinion: This song is good - the lyrics are catchy and make you want to sing along. But I don't think Taylor put in as much effort into this song as the others. I mean, it's a really great song and I understand how it's about haters and people who are going to stop you from doing great things, but Taylor has done better songs. No offense, but I'm the biggest fan of Shake It Off, but I do admit it is an amazing song with great lyrics and a catchy tune.

This should be the top. I sing this in the shower and when I'm in my room or somewhere it's quiet and private. It's catchy. My ex-man brought his new girlfriend. She's like, 'Oh my God.' Yeah, I'm just gonna shake it to the fellow over there with the hella good hair. I love her. I'm one BIG Swiftie. I know lyrics to most of her songs. I like both her country and her pop. This is one of my big-time favorites.

9 Bad Blood

I like the original better than the rap version (for those who don't know, there are two versions). I can relate, just like some of you can. I had a friend that I was pretty darn close to, and then, boom, she becomes a super big jerk. She got two of my best friends to be mean to me and abandon me, saying really bad things about me. What's up with them? I will sing this!

I love this song so much. One of my best friends stabbed me in the back, spread rumors about me, and then turned all my other friends against me. We had been friends for 7 years! I really want to sing this song in her face!

10 This Love

Such a beautiful song! The lyrics are rather simple, but still so relatable, and they hit you like a tidal wave: "This love is good, this love is bad, this love is alive, back from the dead." Makes me cry every time I listen to this. Also, her vocals on this song are angel-like. I think people should give this song way more attention. It deserves it!

I originally didn't like this song, but then I listened to the Ryan Adams version, and it was so amazing, especially when he sang, "...When you're young, you roam, when you're young, you roam. When you're young, you roam, but you come back to what you need." It just shows how amazing Taylor's lyrics are. She truly is an amazing lyricist.

The Contenders
11 Wonderland

The Alice in Wonderland allusions take me back to Love Story, except this song is more demented like Haunted. I love this writing style she uses where she takes a piece of well-known literature and applies it to her own life and her own writing. The lyrics are PHENOMENAL.

This has to be my favourite song in the entire album because of the base drop, the fluidity of the song, the lyrics, and the general meaning of the song.

My Favourite Lyrics:
"Didn't you calm my fears with the Cheshire Cat smile?"
"It's all fun and games till somebody loses their mind."

12 All You Had to Do Was Stay

Great song! So catchy, I can't stop singing it! I love how she manages to add the high-pitched STAY into this perfect song. The production and her singing in this is GREAT! No. 1 definitely!

I love this song. It's like so catchy and should be higher! Come on, guys!

I think this song should be higher on the list. It's very relatable.

13 How You Get the Girl

Compared to Taylor's other songs, this one is so unique. And when you're as big of a Swiftie as me, uniqueness is what gets songs to the top of my list. The people who voted for Blank Space are not Swifties.

I love this song because it is the transition between Red and 1989. It has acoustic guitars, but it also is written by Max Martin and Shellback, and has an 80s-ish beat.

I really do love this song. It's catchy, meaningful, and positively addicting. I have no clue what it's doing below Bad Blood.

14 I Wish You Would

This song is amazing! Taylor got the music from Jack Antonoff and then wrote the song to it. Taylor is so talented and nice. I think this is the reason she has haters, because people are jealous or just don't know this. Haters, if you're reading this, just know that Taylor is a very kind human being. She invited her really big fans to listen to this album, 1989, before its release date with her. This was in a few of the really big cities in America, and she baked them cookies! She also gave surprise early Christmas gifts (and keep in mind, she really thought about these and made sure they were perfect, and some of them were quite expensive) to her really big fans too. She is a very kind soul and doesn't deserve hate. Just think about how you would feel if you were her.

15 Welcome to New York

Why is this 9th? Welcome to New York is such an AMAZING SONG! It is so damn catchy and is a hit in the face to those people that say that Taylor only writes songs about boys. Love the song.

I love how this song is the opening song for the album. I hope this will be her opening song for the tour!

My dream is to say "Welcome to New York" when I'm in New York. I never was in New York, but I will go there.

16 You Are In Love

I really don't even understand why the best songs on this album are bonus tracks. This song is so meaningful but ridiculously underrated. I don't even listen to Taylor all that much, but this song? I love it so much.

Really? 14th? Oh come on, it's probably the best song on the album!

Why is this song at the bottom?! It's just amazing! And describes real love's feelings!

17 Is It Over Now?

Love this song. Was it over? When he unbuttoned my blouse?
