Top Ten Best Songs Where the Artist Who Created Them Hated the Song

The Top Ten
1 Creep - Radiohead

This is the definition of a successful song the artist hated. Should be #1.

2 Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Plant's grown tired of it, and says it's themes are outdated.

3 Wonderwall - Oasis
4 Pinball Wizard - The Who
5 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Yeah Kurt hated this song.

6 (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party) - Beastie Boys
7 Strangers In the Night - Frank Sinatra

Yes, we were strangers in the night, mainly because we didn't know each other (Bill Dana)

8 I Ran - a Flock of Seagulls
9 Shiny Happy People - R.E.M

Can't blame them I don't like this song either

10 Escape - Metallica
The Contenders
11 Like a Virgin - Madonna
12 Pull Me Under - Dream Theater

I understand why the band regret making the song. A lot of elitist DT fans always complain if they didn't hear this song in their live sets. While the band were writing special setlists with lots of long and great songs better than this. Not that this is a bad song.

13 If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man) - Bonnie Tyler

Desmond Child wrote it but he was dissatisfied with its chart success.
So he re-wrote it for Bon Jovi as "You Give Love a Bad Name"!

14 Cherry Pie - Warrant
15 Hey Baby - Deadmau5

I can understand why he regretted making this. The lyrics are too sexual and the vocals are too moany and discordant for his standards, and the instrumental version is good, but not brilliant.

16 Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses

Slash hates it.

17 The Lovecats - The Cure
18 Loser - Beck

I don't like this one either

19 Tom Sawyer - Rush
20 Do They Know It's Christmas - Bob Geldof
21 Jack and Diane - John Mellencamp
22 Rainbow in the Dark - Dio

Dio said that he didn't like the song because it is the most poppy and upbeat song on the Holy Diver album. And it is, but it's still great.

23 See Emily Play - Pink Floyd

Supposedly, Syd Barrett was unhappy with the final product because he thought it sounded too commercial. I understand why he would think that, but it's still somewhat uncommercial when you compare it to the stuff that was most popular in 1967.
