A dueling guitar solo is when two or more guitarists play one solo one after another. Solos by different players that aren't consecutive, aren't dueling. For example, if there is a verse or chorus between the solos, they aren't dueling.Basically, dueling guitar solos happen in bands with two or more LEAD guitarists, or when there's guest lead guitarist.

The 2nd solo (outro solo) is better and also longer so you can hear more of the duels. Thin Lizzy were one of the pioneers and they certainly influenced Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
