And the songs cover the entire spectrum from love to hate and everything in between. He mentioned Rock and Roll, Heavy Metal, Punk rock, Elvis Presley, British Beatlemania,

He mentioned Rock and Roll, disco, new wave:
"Turned on the radio
Sounded like a disco
Must've turned the dial for a couple of miles
But I couldn't find no rock 'n roll
This computerized crap ain't gettin' me off
Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock
London to L.A.,
Talking' 'bout the new wave
For a couple of bucks you get a weird haircut
And waste your life away
Around the world or around the block
Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock"
'Computerized crap' wow, someone with this opinion in '84... interesting. Fortunately, after '85 most of the hit songs weren't computerized and in the '90s acoustic works were more popular than computerized ones.
It's a song of 1984 and I was surprised he said "computerized crap" - I thought that similar reactions to computerized music emerged later.
There are lines mentioning music, record, Frank Zappa.
"We all came out to Montreux
On the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a mobile
We didn't have much time

He could play the piano like a ring and a bell
[...]

We tried to win for why we do not know
New-wave tried to destroy the metal, but the metal had its way
Grunge then tried to dethrone the metal, but metal was in the way
