Top 10 Songs with the Saddest Music (Ignoring the Lyrics)

A song may be sad because of its lyrical theme but in fact, many songs with sad lyrics aren't with sad music. Two years ago I even made a list to exemplify it - Top 10 Metal and Rock Songs with Dark Lyrics and Happy Music.

But this list focuses on sad music. Music only. And vocals.
The Top Ten
1 Hey You - Pink Floyd
2 Soldier of Fortune - Deep Purple

This song is kinda sad 'cause it sounds like blues rock. Blues depicts sadness.

3 Voice of the Soul - Death
4 Anybody There? - Rainbow
5 Nutshell - Alice In Chains
6 Hurt - Christina Aguillera
7 How to Disappear Completely - Radiohead
8 Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
9 My Immortal - Evanescence

Agreed. This song sounds incredibly sad. Especially her vocals and the instruments used in this song...

The piano makes the song great.

10 Down In a Hole - Alice In Chains
The Contenders
11 Nothing's the Same - Gary Moore
12 Creep - Radiohead
13 Fiddler on the Green - Demons & Wizards
14 Hurt - Nine Inch Nails
15 High Hopes - Pink Floyd
16 Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
17 Twenty Four Hours - Joy Division

I don't think this music is sad - music is too rhythmic and fast, and riffs are too punk-ish to make this song sound sad. You can headbang to this song, come on.

18 In My Life - The Beatles
19 For the Damaged Coda - Blonde Redhead
20 Street Spirit (Fade Out) - Radiohead
21 These are the Days of Our Lives - Queen

One of the final songs with Freddie Mercury and him it finishes with him saying "I still love you." Which is him saying goodbye to his fans."

22 Fix You - Coldplay
23 Whatsername - Green Day
24 One More Light - Linkin Park
25 Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day
