Top Ten Songs with the Words "Drink", "Crunk" or "Bottle" in the Title
I don't drink alcohol (mostly because although being socially accepted, it's extremely harmful to the body and brain and is definitely worse than cannabis or MDMA that are illegal in most countries), but nevertheless alcohol has inspired many awesome songs. Some are against, others are pro-alcohol. Of course, not all songs on this list will be centering around alcoholic drinks, but many will.
One of the quintessential pop songs of the turn of the century. Aguilera is a great soul singer, and in her pre-songwriter days (before "Stripped"), she was given absolutely great pop music to work with. It's one of the reasons my favorite pop era was mid-90s to mid-2000s. I love the drum kits they used, I love the ridiculously catchy melodies and how they sneaked in kinky lines without becoming too dull.
As many may know, I often have a problem with Kendrick Lamar songs because many try too hard to sound avantgarde and unusual, which makes them hard to listen to despite the great lyricism. You know, I rather prefer THIS kind of conscious rap song. The chorus is haunting, and so are the lyrics about alcohol addiction, yet the beat and melody are straightforward and easy to like.
I really wish Maria Mena would still have the success in Germany she had ten years ago, but at least in her home country Norway she still peaks high in the charts. Like the Amy MacDonald or Marit Larsen and Marion Raven of M2M, she has all the heartfelt, offbeat singer-songwriter qualities of an idie artist but with bigger and more thought out music to back it up.
I won't lie to you, this song is one hell of an earworm. And actually, I don't see why Millionaires never really managed to land a big hit, standing and international recognition like Ke$ha did. Well, now Ke$ha makes indie music, but back when her career began, she made exactly this music and also with scene aesthetics. But to be honest, Millionaires haf more personality to me. They may seem superficial at first, but they did was top notch role reversal, and with hella catchy dance pop songs. I actually hope they will record a second album or at least a new EP. After all, they released a couple of singles in the meantime.
Between all her badass dominant chick who knows how to use a gun on a disrespectful guy attitude Miranda Lambert still has these few slower and more vulnerable moments like this that add depth to her sheer awesome tough persona. As you can see from the title, she doesn't break out of her role, but gives it more varied feelings.
This song was made during a phase when Marilyn Manson didn't have much political to say and simply made blissfully dark and macabre music that was really a lot of fun if you are into such things, like I am. Of course, it's not as brilliant as his classics or his most recent output when he was/is sociocritical, but nevertheless: this is really fun.
Kanye West, the most masterful producer hip hop producer this planet ever had, has a song in a 3/4 time signature whose beat makes the track outstanding even though the lyrics admittedly aren't on the same level as the other masterpieces on "Graduation".
While I don't think Brokencyde are in any way genius, they definitely are overhated. Their much panned lyrics are just... normal party rap lyrics for the most parts, their beats are good, and while they have basic flows, they are never out of rhythm. Their first three albums have earworm choruses, autotune is used to fit the tone of the music (some indivial songs on the fourth, independently produced and released album "All Grown Up" unfortunately have the autotune off-key, which just kills any kind of listening enjoyment on these tracks, although the beats and flow increased, and a majority of the album is fine). Now, the screaming isn't really the best you'll hear, and actually wouldn't be necessary at all for electro hip hop, but... that's not enough for me to justify that much hate. They aren't great, but they... are okay. Solid. Technically, they are way above Soulja Boy or Cupcakke.
