101 Life on Mars? - David Bowie

Find this song, press play and then close your eyes. That is the only way you can possibly understand the greatness, depth and genius of this song.

This is the song that for me has the one of the best tunes with great use of the piano. But wait till you've listened to those epic vocals!

Seriously? Why isn't this on here? It's the best song ever! It makes me cry. It deserves to be on the top ten at least

I saw this as No. 1 on another list. Now I'm a Bowie fan, but I thought that a bit much. Can't argue with ith it's ingenuity, as I agree Bowie invented the whole Glam rock thing, and this song was a huge part of it. RIP David - Ned964

102 With or Without You - U2

I don't know why this is put so below. This and 'All I want is you' are the most favorite song I have ever heard.

U2 is one of the best bands out there, and this is defiantly one of their best. Along with One, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and maybe Desire, U2 really has some of the best music out there. Few bands can combine lyrics with quality music, but U2 and With or Without You nails it

Awesome song. Should rank higher than other songs that really don't deserve such a high spot on the list.

U2's best work are Where the Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, One, Pride (in the name of love), With or Without You, I Will Follow, New Year's Day, Bad just to name a few should be higher on the list it's a bit disappointing that G'n'R are rated higher

103 Hurricane - Bob Dylan

Yes, it is a shame the younger generations don't appreciate Dylan more, but what are you gonna do? Judging by many songs on this list, the younger generations have spoken, loudly. There's only so much music we can absorb, in all honesty. I once had access to roughly 3500 CD's, and I soon found that it was just too much to give everything it's proper respect. I literally didn't have the time to listen to many artists, whom while obscure to many, were at least familiar to me through friends, or simply reading what certain artists had gone on top after leaving another band. The volume of music available is simply staggering. Dylan is pure genius, but maybe it's list on younger folks because they simply don't have time. - Ned964

This song was done for Rubin "Hurricane" Carter and it's so powerful. You can feel the injustice and the fight of afro descendents American's for civil rights and still one of the best song of Bob Dylan with Like a Rolling Stone and Blowing in the Wind.

The best song ever! It is the classic song of American justice.

My favorite song.
Younger generations should hear what this man has to offer. Wisdom. Love. Bob Dylan I know he don't like to be caled this way, but he is... A spokerman for my generation.

104 Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers

What a song... Soft and complex... Definitely the Chili Peppers Best song.

No, this is not true... The best song by one of the best bands in the world, placed this far! Every aspect of this song is just genius, including the guitar solo, the always amazing Flea bass, Kiedis' performance, and the overall message. I wish it was placed at least in the top 30--It deserves so!

I never get tired of this songs solo, if you focus you feel a slightly feeling of getting stoned.

83? Why 83? Top 20 minimum!

105 In the End - Linkin Park

There is many reasons that makes me vote for this song. Logically, because it's my favorite song. I have listened to this song many times, and always I feel that it is a masterpiece. The combination of Chester's and Mike's voices is perfect. They know how to use characteristics of rock and rap, the timing of instrumental is very archietected, and it's lyrics is amazing. By the way, I think modern bands and songs are too disregarded, so I think that this is a way to deconstruct this mentality in Rock's World. - TheGodOfNewWorld

I like Linkin Park this is the greatest rock band of the world I think in the end would be number 1 but burn it down is better than in the end I am shocked burn it down is not in this list what the hell is crawling

My favorite song ever. Best Linkin Park song ever. Should be in the top 20. This is Linkin Park's signature song and send them into mainstream success. Due to this Hybrid Theory sold 30 mill. Best song of the new millenia and top 20 song ever. If you heard it, you know you love it, if you haven't you need to hear it. - yougnr1116

It's an awesome song one of my favourite song of Linkin Park.

Another L.P. classic. Good song - Ned964

106 Heart-Shaped Box - Nirvana

This should be top 50!

107 Saturn - Sleeping at Last
108 Hall of Fame - The Script

This song makes me motivated, give out the energy deep in me unlike any other song. It should be at least top 30, this place is not suitable for a song that lifts you up the way it does.

"Standing in the hall of fame! And the world's gonna know your name... Cause you burn with the brightest flame! " this song is fantastic, it EMPOWERS you..

This is a song that tells you that anyone can make it to the top if they try. And it sends out a message that everyone is a champion. There is no first or last there is just you and your talent

Sing song is amazing! it really shows how any ordinary person can have brilliant talents.

109 Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears

Help me to decide... Always have liked this one, but it is very basic musically. The lyrics are quite good, and creative, but does it belong anywhere near my Top 100? Not even close. Still I enjoy it. This entire list is 85% comprised of songs that would not be included in any list of mine, but I like this format for allowing folks to express their opinions as most seem to really defend their choices. Who am I, or anyone, to say who is right and who is not? The songs I like are a personal reflection of what I've seen and where I've been. Likewise for everyone else commenting here. If the music takes me away, to make me feel something, well then it obviously has some value to me.

110 Black and Yellow - Wiz Khalifa

This a good hip-hop song! "Yeah, uh huh! You know what it is!... Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow! " :P

111 Set Fire to the Rain - Adele

Adele has the most amazing voice EVER! If you have not heard this song of don't like it, you got problems

Can I ask you all something? WHY THE HELL IS THIS NOT HIGHER? This is one of the greatest songs ever made and it's probably my favorite Adele song. I hate this stupid "only top 500 for remixes" BS because then songs like this can't get into my remix. It's not fair at all. - DCfnaf

Great song it needs to go higher - Cartoonfan202

112 California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas

I can't believe this song isn't on here. The song is #89 in Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and it's been covered by every artist imaginable.

It's my favorite song of all time because I love California, the timeless, soul-warming melody that is both sad and hopeful and makes me tear up every time I hear it.

Wow. I don't have this tune laying around anywhere, but I must admit that when I do hear it, I like it. It's catchy, great harmony. Love the comments here as well. - Ned964

One of the most underrated songs of all time. Should be in top 10 in my mind.

117 Changes - 2Pac

Definitely my favourite song of all time. Yet I guess people who like this sort of music don't spend their time voting on these sites constantly

Tells a great story, about how we should all just get along. The lyricism of this song is insane! - roblist

A pristine example of the good soul Tupac shakur had, and a reminder that the world has forver lost an inspiration from the heart of the west coast.R.I. P

Although it is rap, it tells a great message and is written amazingly. Get this in the top 100!

118 Highway to Hell - AC/DC

R you crazy ac/dc rules! I demand 4 you to rank it betta man.

The song that explains the life most of us live or want to live. The best song from the best band that ever walked across the stage. Bon Scott will live forever in his music!

Bon Scot is no doubt the most legendary singer of the 80's and the opening guitar riff makes you feel like your actually on a highway to hell

What the
Why is it in 267
It should be first

119 Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones

A typical Stones song with a fantastic beat

It's goth-esque, but not depressing. It's still got such a rock and roll feel to it.

I can't believe that The Rolling Stones. Paint It Black stands at the last place, This is a great song to sing, have a lot of meanings in it and it is just so phenomenal and I am sure The Rolling Stones have more fans than these hacky Tokio Hotel which stands at #11!

Come on.

Full Metal Jacket, anybody?
