Top 10 Reasons Why Modern SpongeBob Isn't Bad

The Top Ten
1 People just hate it for the sole reason that it's new

It's because these people (The Pre-Movie Fanbase) won't stop living so much in the past. Showing old SpongeBob is pretty much what they do on Nick, I don't get how you don't notice. And bringing back old SpongeBob isn't going to bring your past life back. I mean, let's face it. Were going forwards, not backwards in time. Do you think that spending useless time on the internet complaining about Post-Movie SpongeBob is going to make a difference? I mean, I learned that lesson myself, that there are other interesting things to look forward to in the future. It's really not making a difference, because what you're doing is making other people annoyed and frustrated at you guys for complaining so much. Like, I have nothing wrong with nostalgia, but take a chill pill.

I mean, I'll definitely admit that making Teen Titans Go was stupid, but a few changes in characters and animation? Obviously you'd expect that from a TV show. Like, how boring would it be if SpongeBob stayed the same ...more

People just hate it for the sole purpose that it's new and because they can't get rid of their god damn nostalgia glasses! Now, look, I don't hate nostalgia, I love nostalgia! But when I keep hearing stuff like, "Old SpongeBob is clearly the best! Only 7-year olds like the new one who haven't seen the old ones!" or phrases like this, "You're only a true SpongeBob fan if you like Pre-Movie SpongeBob," then that's when most people get annoyed to the point where they start losing interest in the first 3 seasons of SpongeBob. Why?
Plus there was no suicide or abuse in SpongeBob, these people just like to overexaggerate things to make them sound like the Post-Movie lovers are the worst, when they're not. SpongeBob didn't abuse Gary, stop taking a cartoon so seriously.
And even though Mr. Krabs fired SpongeBob, he admitted that he shouldn't have gotten rid of him, do you even watch the whole episodes, or do you just blindly worship every ...more

The only reason why I hate it is because of the original writer for Spongebob that left. This writer left for a while, which is why the new seasons are horrific and not like old Spongebob at all. The writer came back around the time season 11 was going to start, which is why it’s okay now

Some of the episodes in modern SpongeBob are kinda meh or are bad like One Coarse Meal or A Pal For Gary, but some of modern SpongeBob is still good.

2 They hate all new episodes just because two 2010 episodes were bad

I don't get why people complain about these episodes and always say that they are the worst. They are both horrible but not the WORST. My worst episode is Pet Sitter Pat.

But One Coarse Meal and A Pal For Gary WERE bad and the Splinter was kind of bad too, and people are afraid more bad ones will happen.

Chior Boys and SpongeBob You're Fired is worst then One Corse Meal, and A Pal for Gary

3 The new movie was amazing

The new movie was better than the old. The old movie, though a guilty pleasure of mine, is just a lame Finding Nemo/Pixar knockoff the time it came out. When making a T.V. show movie, you gotta go for it. "Sponge out of Water" went for it!

No it wasn't. Were they on drugs creating that time travel scene? It isn't bad but it isn't good.

I can definitely agree with you, though the first one is still superior in my eyes.

True part 1 is better but part 2 is still good

4 "Squid Baby" was one of the best episodes ever

This is a great episode! Like when Squidward was being banged on the head multiple times, or the gross-up close-up of his dirty diapers! I LOVED those parts! Or Head go boom boom itis! Best episode ever of any show!

Nobody likes a Squidward torture porn! I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but how is Squidward being abused FUNNY?!

Maybe it was so bad it was funny (though I've never watched it, but I don't want to)

I'd rather watch One Coarse Meal or A Pal for Gary than this.

5 It has barely changed at all, people just like to exaggerate things

There was almost no suicide in old SpongeBob (The only exception was when SpongeBob strapped a bomb to himself unless Gary took a bath). Now they're treating suicide like it's hilarious, usually in episodes involving Zeus Cervas. And they're also using these: Animal abuse & neglect, paraphilia, dog consumption, disgusting humor, hypocrites, extreme jerks, making fun of people with various disabilities, and now this show is completely corrupted and unfunny as of season 6. This show now seems like a show that would be on Adult Swim or Comedy Central, and not the good kind, either.

I agree with this. Although some of New SpongeBob's episodes stand out verily, I find most new episodes to be enjoyable like older ones.

Actually, no. There wasn't any gross and disgusting close ups in seasons 1-3 and yes sometimes they were but it wasn't that gross as in "to love a patty". Also, mr Krabs used to be greedy, but also cared for his employees. But in "SpongeBob you're fired" mr Krabs fires SpongeBob because he can get a nickel... Wow this is stupid

Have you seen episodes like boating buddies and the little yellow boom

They completely change the likability of the characters by making them not even act like themselves but what the plot wants them to act like for the sake of the episode.

6 It's still better than any other monstrosity on children's networks these days

I mean, yeah. It sucks now, but it's still the best thing currently airing on Nick, which shows just how bad the network is now. Avoid seasons 6-8 like the flu. But it's still better than Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Rabbids Invasion, How to Rock, Victorious, Bella and The Bulldogs, The Haunted Hathaways, The Thundermans, Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures, and way more Nickelodeon crap.

All this crap they're airing now sucks! Jessie, Shake it Up, Sanjay and Craig, Uncle Grandpa, Level Up, Breadwinners, Bubble Guppies, Harvey Beaks, Clarence, Steven Universe, Supernoobs, Thundermans, Austin & Ally, The Haunted Hathaways, Victorious, Sam & Cat, Daniel Tiger's Neigborhood, Fanboy and Chum Chum, WordWorld, Super Why, and a few others I forgot.

My username states the obvious, but I agree. Even Modern SpongeBob is one of the only good shows on Nickelodeon left.

Actually, I agree. But seasons 7-8 were not good... NOT GOOD AT ALL...

7 It still teaches great morals

I loved this show when I was younger, and I never, ever was taught bad examples from it because I knew it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. People on here say it's "like an Adult Swim Show". How? Have you guys ever watched Family Guy? Nothing even like SpongeBob. Way too sensitive.

"I guess crying does solve your problems after all".

Like the time Spongebob creepily stared into the audience and said “I guess crying does solve your problems after all! ”?

One Coarse meal,Q pal for Gary, yeah they do teach good morals don't they? 😒(rolls eyes)

8 There are some good episodes

I really liked all the old and new episodes but some episode I just call bad like one course meal or the splinter also most episodes people hate I like. Like spongbob your fired, bubble buddy returns, and garys new pet

Like one of my favorites, Not Normal

That's true. (Ie: Roller Cowards)

9 The fact that some people hate it so much leads real fans to believe they don't even watch it anymore
10 New Spongebob still gets nominated for Emmys

LOL! Modern SpongeBob still gets Emmys?! That's like saying if Justin Beiber or Nicki Minaj get awards, then they aren't bad! And yes, I know JB isn't that bad, but he is still bad!

This is basically saying if someone hates Gravity Falls, Gravoty Falls is a bad show because someone hates it.

True. However, it doesn't really mean that it's good, although I do like the era.

Just because its nominated doesn't make it good

The Contenders
11 Stephen Hillenburg approved of modern SpongeBob episodes

I feel like Hillenburg just delivered suggestions on a good way because the bad episodes would just be WORSE by comparison

You can trash the modern episodes whatever you like, but if Stephen Hillenburg TRULY hated them, they never would've existed.

You can trash the modern episodes whatever you like but if Hillenburg TRULY hated them, they never would've existed.

Just because they were made, doesn’t mean he onnomaticly approved of them. He doesn’t even have that power! It’s the stupid brains at Nickelodeon who approved, why do you think he returned? For a couple of bucks?! I think not.

12 It's still just as hilarious

I laughed at least once at every single Spongebob episode.

Like the doorbell gag from Pets or Pests!

No. Please shut up. This is just stupid.

Don't forget food con castaways funny

13 Good Animation

It's good, but not very compared to Pre-Movie. Post-Movie's animation is probably my least favorite thing about the era; it just feels too stiff, like Family Guy. However, such like It's a SpongeBob Christmas takes a new turn on animation in the series and it's amazing. Would recommend to someone who never seen it. One last thing, the animation became more fluid in the Post-Sequel era. I wished it stayed like that during the whole series, to be honest.

I think that spongebob has graet animation. I have never seen an episode with out bad Animation

Post sequel episodes, right?

Wanna see a good example of T.V. animation? check out "It's a Spongebob Christmas"

14 The Splinter is actually pretty funny

Though kinda gross, I still find at least some of its scenes to be worth a chuckle.

It's over hated

15 It's still the same lovable sponge

Stop judging SpongeBob by episodes like "Squid's Visit", "A Pal for Gary", etc., because in most episodes he's actually a pretty nice guy. And in "Are You Happy Now?", SpongeBob was actually very nice and trying to help Squidward. He was very close to his pre-movie personality.

SpongeBob's not really likeable in some episodes, but some people have come to solely judge post-movie SpongeBob by said episodes. It is very annoying. He is still loveable, and his personality has improved as of Season 12. It's just too bad, you had to kill his character in seasons 5 or 6-9A.

I honestly love the new episodes as much as the older ones.
I get sad when people say they aren't as funny and just never watch it anymore..
It's still the same lovable sponge!

New SpongeBob is still lovable and I will not solely judge him by episodes where he acted bad!

16 Many good episodes

Plankton's Pet (a lot of people seem to like that one, and I agree, it didn't end on a Status Quo and it was actually nice to see Plankton only getting punished when he's being evil... and I think it actually made dead baby comedy work in one scene because it was made clear that the baby was Plankton and Mr. Krabs knew), Sand Castles in the Sand (besides a bit of Patrick being a jerk, the episode was pretty entertaining), and Sing a Song of Patrick (Again Patrick does steal SpongeBob's money in the beginning but the rest makes up for it).

Because say modern Spongebob sucks, well they are talking about seasons 4 - 9. Shut up people that say Spongebob season 10 sucks. Season 10 is not THAT bad.

17 It's the same SpongeBob
18 It has the old characters

They bring back the old characters

19 One Coarse Meal is a very over hated episode

Whoever posted this is episode with jokes referencing suicide and depression...and Plankton injured Krabs and SpongeBob...yeah, this is overhated...doesn't deserve any hate at all...

Here me out: Plankton blew up part of Mr. Krabs restaurant, physically hurt Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob, AND held them as hostages until they told him where the formula was! Not to mention, in the first SpongeBob movie, as Mr. Krabs is begging and crying for King Neptune to spare his life, Plankton is sitting comfortably, EATING POPCORN, and yelling "YES! " each time Neptune gets closer to killing him! Now, don't get me wrong, Mr. Krabs drove Plankton too far, but so many people forget the terrible things that Plankton did!

Also, why do people forget Plankton told an old lady to kill herself in 20,000 Patties Under The Sea? Very hypocritical.

I really have the guts to say I, *stutters and stammers a lot* agree with this. - SoongeBill

20 It has it's mindless, enjoyable moments
21 Spongebob got what was coming to him in Demolition Doofus
