For those who already don't know, I'm Irish. And in Ireland, St. Patrick's Day is a pretty big deal. I feel it's my duty to bring to all of you this list.

1 St. Patrick's name wasn't Patrick
2 The first parade wasn't in Ireland

It was in Boston and performed by Irish immigrants.

3 We should be wearing blue today

Everyone here will undoubtedly be wearing green. Erroneously, I suppose.

I am wearing blue today, actually. I forgot to wear green...

That's the colour associated with Patrick.

I'm wearing both blue and green.

4 It isn't only a national holiday in Ireland

It's national in Greenland and Labrador (Canada).

5 St. Patrick's Welsh

It's well known by now, but he is Welsh

6 St. Patrick did NOT banish snakes from Ireland

There weren't any snakes when Patrick arrived. Maybe they weren't ever here?

7 St. Patrick was buried alongside St. Brigid
8 St. Patrick was never canonised
9 St. Patrick was captured at 15 to be an Irish shepherd
10 Pubs used to be closed on St. Patrick's Day

Well, for the naturally drunken Irish, that must've been a bummer.
