Most Surprising NFL Teams of Week 14 (2019)
The Top Ten
Well said. I think the Broncos are close to getting the ship righted, and obviously if they get that all important QB position locked down, that's a huge step out of the way. You are correct I think, Lock has such a small sample size we really don't know yet, but I do know he has a bunch of talent to play the position. Even at Mizzou, his arhletic ability was never in question, just could he become a complete QB? Mixed results at Mizzou I think, but Brady sat behind Drew Henson for much of his college career, and look at how that's panned out for those 2. In any case, the rest of the AFC West had better start planning on Denver being a force once more.
Denver is a team that is well out of the playoffs and is merely punting the season away. Yet they absolutely destroyed the Texans. The Broncos controlled this game essentially from start to finish. Drew Lock has shown potential but this is only one game. Will he be the answer? That has yet to be determined but at least he doesn’t suck. Texans did cut the lead down but it was in garbage time as Denver coasted most of the second half.
Seahawks had a shot all lined up to clinch a playoff berth and assert themselves in a key position for a bye. Instead the Rams dominated them from start to finish in a game with major playoff implications. The Niners reclaim the NFC West lead for the time being and Seattle now falls into the mix with the Saints and Packers at 10-3. Worth noting that Seattle still hosts San Francisco later on. Still surprising how Russell Wilson couldn’t get much going on the offense all night
For all the criticism Mitchell Trubisky has faced this year he went off on Dallas. Da Bears were dominant almost the entire game frustrating the cowboys and keeping them in the playoff picture. David Montgomery also played a key role for Chicago. Overall very stunning to see them do this
Texans has a good chance to all but put the AFC South away but instead opened the door for the Titans. Denver dominated this game entirely and Houston never really had a chance and was never really in it. All in all this was essentially a trap game for both teams. Denver costs themselves in draft positioning while Houston blows a Golden opportunity to assert themselves in the AFC. Everyone loses
Rams playoff hopes were essentially on life support and they had no mercy for Seattle. Jared Goff Tyler Higbee And Todd Gurley had a pretty good game to keep their playoff hopes alive another week. In the process they keep Seattle from clinching a playoff berth. Perhaps they can sneak In as a 6 seed
So Jamies what’s up? You’re a turnover machine and a Touchdown pass machine. The Bucs once again find a way to win over a decimated Indy team but they get eliminated in the process. There’s potential here but Jamies Winston is too inconsistent. Pick a side please You’re either a Turnover or Touchdown machine. How can you be both?
Patriots have struggled against other AFC teams this year but not at home. Yet they just looked flat in this one. Kansas City wasn’t even that good either. The Pats blew multiple opportunities to win.
Edit: Guys why are you stealing the signals from the Bungles? THE BUNGLES?! They’re awful do y’all really need to do this to win? As long as you have a pulse you’ll be good! #Spygate2.0
Dallas Congratulations you get another week of questions and facing the music. Somehow they made Trubisky look like Patrick Mahomes. It doesn’t matter because Garrett will just clap on the sidelines. This is so weird like they have the talent but can’t execute. When will Emperor Jerry Jones finally have enough? The Fact that Cowboys or Eagles will have a home playoff game is pathetic
Philly needed to rally to beat the Giants which almost ended their playoff hopes. The Eagles needed Wentz to ball out late in the game to win against Eli Manning. Yes I get they were dealing with injuries but still the Giants are no powerhouse by any means. This shouldn’t have been a nail biter game.
Agreed. Look at the Eagles roster, whats going on there? The injuries and a pretty bad secondary notwithstanding, the Giants defense is completely void of direction. Scoring 3 points in a half against them is a self indictment. Still, the Cowboys struggles have kept them clinging to hopes of a division title. Its kinda funny how bad that division has become.
Giants were without Daniel Jones which means for the time being we get Eli Manning back. And they somehow almost beat Philly. They would lose in OT but the Giants should not have been in it.
