Top 10 Surprisingly Good Movie Sequels

The Top Ten

1 A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

II sucked. Really sucked. The first one is a phenomenal flick, and the third seemed like it would be a flop. However, it proved me wrong as it captured the spirit of the original perfectly, and changed it up a little up with a surprise death. - iliekpiez

Way better than the second movie - AliciaMae

Best one apart from the first - Froglamb

2 The Lost World: Jurassic Park

I really liked this movie as a little kid, still love it today! - PumpkinKing109

JP had a perfect ending, in fact, one of the best. This was another one that was probably a cash grab, and while it has its issues, I do enjoy this one as I like Jeff Goldlum's character, and combined with not even focusing on Alan Grant seemed like it would fail pretty badly. - iliekpiez

3 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure

A direct to video Disney sequel, that at the time, was better than most Disney movies being released at the time. It captured the spirit of the original, and Cruella was a phenomenal villain and I got much more into it than I would have originally thought. - iliekpiez

Another dark age Disney sequel film that was good? I may need to watch this because I'm intrigued. - Mcgillacuddy

Great film - Froglamb

4 Toy Story 2

A sequel to a movie that did so well, and after A Bug's Life, was Pixar a one hit pony? Answer as we should all know was a no. It seemed like a bad idea. but worked as they expanded on the characters and had very real human issues. - iliekpiez

5 Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

This seemed like a huge cash grab, reiving Spock seemed so stupid, at least to me it did, but however did completely surpass expectations with great writing, and characters along with the story which I thought would be awful. - iliekpiez

6 Rambo (2008)

It was much less silly than II and III, and completely captured the spirit of the original and yet improved on that as well. No one expected Stallone to put that good of a performance at 60, and yet he accomplished it. - iliekpiez

So. Much. Blood. - Not_A_Weeaboo

7 Ice Age: The Meltdown

Ice Age was a movie that did not a need a sequel, but none of the less that is now thrown down the toilet. They did put effort into this movie and that really surprised me as I did not think it would be good. I thought it would be crap. - iliekpiez

The only somewhat interesting Ice Age sequel - JustAnAccount

8 Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

II and III were not that great, neither really captured the spirit of the original. However, Brad Bird strikes again with a phenomenal action flick which surprised me at just how good it was, also considering it was third movie in the franchise. - iliekpiez

9 Men in Black 3

Men In Black 2 was a pretty medicore film. In other words, it was strange putting a sequel to MIB, a great film. It was good, it did capture the spirit of the original pretty well and I do want to it to get full regonition. - iliekpiez

10 The Incredibles 2

Hey it may have arrived a decade and a half later...but was worth the wait.
