Top Ten Best Teams of the 2019-2020 NHL Season

Quite often the NHL regular season has one team quite far ahead. Usually the president's trophy winner has quite a few more points than the 2nd in line. And so far this year it has been very close between three teams (Bruins, Capitals, and Blue), and the Lightning are soaring into the mix. But, the best team doesn't mean, the team that's going to win the president's trophy, it means the team that has the most talent, which is usually the team that's going to win the Cup! So basically, vote for what team you has the most great players combined with chemistry, just the overall talent of the team.
The Top Ten
1 Boston Bruins The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Bruins compete in the National Hockey League as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.

I was quite surprised, and happy, when they lost to the Blues in the finals last year, I thought they had the Cup for sure. This year I have predicted them to win the Cup again, let's hope I'm wrong. But with the skill they have, Bergeron (who's currently leading the league in goals), Marchand, Rask, Debrusk, Krug, to name a few, they are massive Cup contenders and my #1 on this list. Poo.

2 St. Louis Blues The St. Louis Blues are a professional ice hockey team in St. Louis, Missouri. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

To be honest, I didn't see them doing so great this regular season, but they're majorly proving me wrong. Quite stupid of me, them being the Stanley Cup champions! Anyways, they're a very talented team, who could very well repeat a Cup win. I'd rather them than the Bruins.

3 Tampa Bay Lightning The Tampa Bay Lightning are a professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. It is a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Lightning have three Stanley Cup championships in their history, in 2003-04, 2019-20, and 2020-21.

At the start of this season, I was very skeptical of them, they were looking quite lame, like they did in the 2019 playoffs. But in December they took off, and are back in president's trophy contention. I believe that they will do much better this upcoming playoffs, they'll be way more ready for it, and there will be no surprise attacks this time.

4 Pittsburgh Penguins The Pittsburgh Penguins (colloquially known as the Pens) are a professional ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. The Penguins are one of two NHL franchises in Pennsylvania,... read more

After they won their last Cup in 2017, I personally thought their Cup contention would quickly end. But, again, I was wrong. They are major Cup contenders again. If Tirstan Jerry can continue his great goaltending on into the playoffs, I think the Pens have another great shot at a championship. I'm sick of the Penguins, so let's hope they aren't that good this upcoming playoffs.

5 Washington Capitals The Washington Capitals (colloquially known as the Caps) are a professional ice hockey team based in Washington, D.C. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. The Capitals are owned by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, headed... read more

They're having another great regular season, which doesn't mean much to me. Since 2016, the Capitals have been repeatedly finishing in the top 5 teams in the league, 2018 being the only exception. In 2018 they finished 6th, but won the Cup. Basically what I'm trying to say is, for the Caps, regular season stats don't matter that much. But they did win the Cup a couple years ago, so we know they have it in them. And Ovechkin is deadly.

6 Arizona Coyotes The Arizona Coyotes are a professional ice hockey team based in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Arizona.

A new Cup contender! After, in my opinion, stealing Taylor Hall from the Devils, they've become one of my Cup favourites. On the downside, they aren't a very experienced playoff team, I mean, the passed 5 or so years they've kind of sucked. But who knows, maybe they'll rock the playoffs. And Kuemper is a great goalie to have!

7 Carolina Hurricanes The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.

As of me writing this, they're 10th in the league. But I see them as a top Cup contender, last playoffs they upset the Cup champions and then swept the Islanders, then sadly got swept by the Bruins. I feel that there's a good chance that Bruins and Canes will meet up again this upcoming playoffs, and the outcome would probably be the same. I personally am hoping the Canes get far.

8 Dallas Stars The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas, Texas. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Everyone must remember that the Stars took the Blues to game 7 in 2019, obviously the Blue then went to win the Cup. The Stars were so close to changing that outcome. I see them as more of a sneaky team, who could pop out of nowhere and win the Cup.

9 New York Islanders The New York Islanders are a professional ice hockey team based in the New York metropolitan area. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.

I see the Islanders as a very weak playoff team. I know you might think me crazy for saying that, but I just sense some 2016 Washington Capitals stuff going on with them. But I'm super impressed with how they've played without Tavares. It's quite crazy.

10 Calgary Flames The Calgary Flames are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Flames are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Oh, the Flames. So much talents, but not much connection. Later season they were looking great, finishing 2nd in the league, people thought they might take the Cup home, but that quickly ended with the Avs. And like I said with the Lightning, the Flames will be more ready this playoffs, and it's looking like they'll be the underdogs this playoffs. I hope they can connect. Go Flames Go!
