Best Horror Movies of All Time

The Contenders: Page 2

21 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Its like a super scary movie I thought it was super scary I'm a big fan

I love this movie so much! It was both realistic and absolutely terrifying. Toby Hooper at his very best.

Already listed.

22 Poltergeist

I have read so many reviews and seriously it's really very scariest and scariest movie. you can't take it really... If you really want to be scared I must say do watch it

Has the perfect amount of scary. Has you scared even when you think it's the end.

This should easily be in the top ten - happyhappyjoyjoy

The kid friendly version of The Ring.

23 Night of the Living Dead

This movie began the "zombie" genre which runs amok today and should be ranked in the top ten! Night of the Living Dead is The Walking Dead's granddaddy! Not scary? You've got to be kidding! The innate fright is multiplied greatly due to the film being in black & white. Incredibly creepy and original! - Terrax

Not that scary but the part where the zombie girl kills and eats her own mother will freak you out

Best horror movie I ever saw

It might be good enough in 1968 but sure now it is an awful horror comedy. I mean it has not even many death scenes.

24 The Blair Witch Project

Ppl didn't get this movie that's why they hated it, The reason why they filmed scenes like them in the Shops or them havin' conversations is to make it seem real, e. g. anybody would film this stuff they filmed. And they didn't show the witch, because using your imagination is the scariest monster there is - roblist

This movie has always been the scariest movie for me because of the fact that you never really get to see the witch, but you know it's there. It amazes me how scary they made it while using pretty much three actors and virtually no special effects. The acting is so convincing I almost thought it was real, going into the forest will never be the same.

This was a horror movie which didn't need the physical presence of evil. the fear one feels is pure and the slight confusion among the characters which later becomes a conflict adds to the fear, to the chaos. The knowledge that they are being stalked and observed and the lack of it as to who or what it is that seems to be lurking in the brush subjected me to pure abject terrorThe ending is scary and confusing in the right proportions - I failed a test because of this movie - I couldn't think of anything but this story for weeks

One of the best

25 Halloween II

Whilst it was never going to be as fresh as the original it is still creepy, suspenseful and offers nice closure for the first movie.

I actually think this is better than the first, more suspense and thrills, and I like the hospital setting.

Almost as good as the first

26 Rosemary's Baby

This is the best horror movie ever, smart, scary and bizarre at the same time, I hate those people who thinks this movie is boring and cg movies are good.

It's the best horror movie of all time along with the exorcist.

It was a total waste of time. No on-screen deaths, no scary faces, no jump scares. Why all say that it was so good?

Does anyone see pac man on the poster...?

27 Last House On the Left (1972)

Wes Craven's first movie

28 Suspiria

Favorite movie ever! Last film shot in Technicolor

29 Orphan

This movie freaked me out so much! Oh myy the scariest part was that she was a grown woman who liked to harm people. And she was scary looking and just totally 666! I couldn't trust little girls for a month!

I saw this when I was 6...

Could not sleep for a week...

Good movie after 5 years of avoiding this movie

I did not feel scared but this movie was awesome one of the best movies I have ever watched.

Awesome I saw it and I'm turning ten dab in so

30 Carrie

The only movie to make me cry. It is so disturbing and emotional. That jump scene at the end is one hell of a jump scene!

Actually this movie was a mediocre for me, well it may seem OK, but this wasn't scary at all. Anyway, this movie wasn't so bad, at least it's emotional & well made. - Fan_of_Good_Music

31 An American Werewolf in London

This film had me jumping with fright! Not to mention rick baker's amazing transformation.

It is a genuinely scary movie, the transformation scene is yet to be bettered, a complete story

Have you ever tried talking to a corpse? It's boring. - AwesomeJ1800

The makeup in this movie is truly a work of art

32 The Sixth Sense

i see dead people...all the time

Good movie with a twist some people can communicate with the dead whether they want to or not God decides

Brought back ghost movies. The Others stole the twist and Paranorman stole the whole concept

Good movie. Watch it when I was like seven - Scr3aM

33 The Evil Dead

This is my favourite movie of all time! This movie proves that you don't need a big budget to make a good movie! I didn't see the new one but it defiantly can't beat the original classic!

This movie deserve number 1, this movie made me watch & collect horror movies to my movies collection. I strongly believe this movie is the mother of almost "block buster" horror movies.

Bruce Campbell is awesome, best horror film of all time, watch it!

36 years old movie, people still are afraid to watch it. Rated NC-17 on IMDB. Mostly because of gore. - zxm

34 The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Just watching this movie makes me shiver to my spine... The storyline was creepy and the acting of everyone was amazing. Still remember I was alone and there were 20 to 30 people in the theatre and after watching the movie when I was walking I kept on looking back to check if anyone was following me...

This movie by far is the scariest demonic possession horror movie that is based on a real story. Just the thought of having things inside of me/anyone is just plain terrifying. The even scarier thing is that the demons won and after being possessed for six years the little girl died because she could not take it anymore. Poor thing...

This should be the best movie of all time.. But to be honest not a scariest movie... But acting story was way above excellence... Nice court room drama... But should be at least deserves 2nd spot..

Very funny

35 Freddy vs. Jason

OH YEAH! This is what I'm talking about. Who cares what anyone says about this movie. It is the greatest in horror crossovers. If a mortal fighting an immortal doesn't sound epic to you, then you're totally bonkers.

I like this movie the gore is great. But it introduces the worst character in Friday Film History, none other then the abusive boyfriend himself Trey.

36 American Psycho

Another film inspired by Ed Gein.

I think it was more inspired by Ted Bundy. Or maybe both.

37 28 Days Later

This movie was good, because Chris Eccleston was in it :) He is the cutest person in the entire world. I was scared to death by his beauty!

The infected monkeys rly made u frightened...and mk u chk your's surroundings 😁

38 The Rite

It is actually a very scary movie. the devil voice was very freaky.

39 Event Horizon

This was a scary one all right, with the added atmosphere of heavy, inescapable evil

I will never ever ever forget this movie - Tbog009

AHHHHHHH!!!!!! This movie scares the Begeezus out of me!!!!!

40 Paranormal Activity 2

Found this really creepy and unnerving. Watched this before I watched the 1st one. - misskikii
