The Lego Batman Movie Review

MegaSoulhero I just saw the Lego Batman Movie! I know it came out a week ago but I didn't have time to see it until recently. Basically, it's a spinoff of the Lego Movie. A very popular film that I really loved and my favorite character in the movie was Batman! So when I found out they were making a movie about Lego Batman, I was very excited! Did it live up to my expectations? Well let's talk about it!

Basically, Batman is feeling kind of depressed from living a lonely life with no family. However, he doesn't want to admit it. He claims that he doesn't need anyone. He ends up adopting a son who later becomes Robin and he has to work with him, as well as Alfred and Barbara Gordon, to stop a bunch of villains from destroying Gotham. And let me tell you, this movie is AWESOME!!! I was absolutely blown away by this movie! I loved every minute of it! The humor is brilliant, the action is great, and every character is very likeable! Practically every joke in the film was on point! The movie really knows how and when to poke fun at the Batman franchise! They manage to bring up every Batman film from the 1940s to 2016! They even throw in some Batman villains that people may or may not have heard of! Such as Crazy Quilt, Eraser, Polka Dot Man, Condiment King, and others! Believe it or not, these were real villains in the Batman universe! Even this movie makes fun of the concept of those villains! So yeah, the movie pretty self aware!

Not only does this movie have excellent humor, but the action scenes are awesome! Just that first action scene alone was enough to keep my attention! The song that was playing during that scene was just hilarious and awesome at the same time! It was such a great beginning! Just like The Lego Movie, they use CGI to make the movie look like stop motion done with legos. It still looks very impressive! Will Arnett still gives an excellent performance as Batman! Even though Batman says that he doesn't need anyone, we still understand that he wants a family and we feel his emotions! Also, he is great at rapping! Robin I thought was going to be annoying, but I ended up really liking him and found him very funny! Alfred acts like a father toward Batman and understands what's best for him. He understands that Batman shouldn't isolate himself from others. Barbara Gordon is very smart and very helpful! And as for Joker, I thought I was going to hate Zach Galifianakis as Joker, but he was really great! Definitely better than Jared Leto's Joker! That's for sure! And I just love that he wants Batman to admit that he enjoys fighting him! The parts of the movie that deal with family are really well done! This even leads to some emotional moments! I never thought I'd see that in a Lego Batman film! Honestly, I have NOTHING negative to say about this movie! It is that great! I was worried that this movie wouldn't be as good as I thought it would be. But it wasn't as good as I thought it would be! It was a whole lot better!!

The Lego Batman Movie is not just a great animated film, but quite possibly one of the best Batman films ever made! Period! It is such a great movie from start to finish! This is a movie that everyone can enjoy! Especially if you're a Batman fan! This is an excellent masterpiece with great humor, great action, great characters, and a great message! I really hope this gets nominated for an Oscar next year because it is absolutely great!

Score: 10/10
