Top Ten Things Cartoon Network Should Do in 2017

Similar to my list of things Nick should do this year
The Top Ten
1 Put Reruns of Regular Show on Boomerang

Sounds like a good idea since it ended. Should do the same with gumball and adventure time.

Considering how they haven't shown an episode since the show ended, this won't be a bad idea.

2 Cancel Teen Titans Go

They keep on airing it nearly 24/7 by showing reruns of it over 150 times a week! If Cartoon Network doesn't get its act together and doesn't either give more airtime to better shows that are popular and critically acclaimed for their quality or cancel Teen Titans Go! all together, Cartoon Network is going to go into another dark age. The only good things this network has right now is Toonami and the Samurai Jack revival.

Or at least just balance the scheduling.

Samurai Jack revival > Teen Titans Go! and The Powerpuff Girls 2016. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Lol I knew this would be first.

3 Treat Adventure Time with Respect

I'm just relieved that Adventure Time won the Emmy this year in 2017 and not Teen Titans Go!. As Vailskibum94 said, the episode chosen for Teen Titans Go! 's nomination isn't outright terrible, but it is questionable as to how it even got chosen. Hopefully, Vail is right about Cartoon Network potentially giving Adventure Time more respect now that it's won another Emmy and proven that it's still a great show no less.

Adventure Time saved Cartoon Network from obscurity and the network treats it like crap nowadays. When was the last time the network aired an Adventure Time marathon? Hell, when was the last time the network aired a RE-RUN of Adventure Time? CN needs to treat its greatest show with respect.

4 Cancel Powerpuff Girls 2016 and Uncle Grandpa

Uncle Grandpa went good and already got cancelled

Teen Titans Go, Powerpuff Girls, Uncle Granpa and Ben 10 should all be ended

5 Let Steven Universe Continue for More Seasons

It should at least have 7 seasons, but it shouldn't go on as long as say, Spongebob

6 Create a Cartoon That's Actually Good

I've heard about OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes recently. It's an American animated web series created by Ian Jones-Quartey, who has also worked on Adventure Time and Steven Universe, that became a full-fledged television series when Cartoon Network announced it on March 9 of 2017. I've seen a few glimpses of it from Vailskibum94's video on it, and based on what I've seen, I agree with him that it does have potential to be a great cartoon. Also, need I mention that the opening sequence is storyboarded by Japanese artist Hiroyuki Imaishi, the same guy who worked on Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann?! Looks like Cartoon Network isn't ready to let Nickelodeon take the crown for being the best and most improved cable channel of 2017 just yet!

They made We Bare Bears, that's a good show. They made The Amazing World Of Gumball, that's a good show. So shut up and stop complaining.

7 Greenlight Galactic Kids Next Door

I can totally agree that giving the green light for Galactic Kids Next Door would be Cartoon Network's best move since Samurai Jack Season 5. However, after seeing videos dealing with this topic from The Roundtable and Vailskibum94, I can see that there are a few challenges here (and probably some solutions). First off, both channels said that Cartoon Network most likely rejected Mr. Warburton's proposal for a sequel to his hit animated series for a good reason. And that reason is its correlation between its continuity and scheduling. Being that Codename: Kids Next Door is full of story arcs and continuity in terms of characters and subplots, only old fans would be able to get the most out of it while newer fans and viewers who are just now watching it would be completely oblivious to what Kids Next Door is even supposed to be. While Samurai Jack Season 5 was a continuation of the original series, it was at least still able to appeal to newer fans since the last episode of the ...more

8 Put the Classic Shows Back on Boomerang

They don't air the classic shows that much on Boomerang, they just air the less popular CN programs. I think they should bring back the classics on there

Airing new crap like Teen Titans Go! and Johnny Test on Boomerang instead of classic shows was Cartoon Network's worst move ever next to their CN Real live-action shows. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

I miss waking up on Saturdays and watching looney toons. Why Cartoon Network why!

9 Add More Action Cartoons

Why is it that Cartoon Network solely focuses on comedy-oriented cartoons these days? Sure, there were lots of comedy-oriented cartoons back in the days as well (most, if not, all of which were good), but at least there was also either an abundance of action-oriented cartoons or cartoons that mixed both action and comedy perfectly. Teen Titans (2003), Samurai Jack, Codename: Kids Next Door, and Megas XLR are just a few prime examples of this. Nowadays, the only shows that fall into the action genre would probably be Steven Universe and the recent OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes. The rest is mostly shows in the comedy genre. The good ones being Adventure Time and The Amazing World of Gumball and the bad ones being pretty much all 3 awful reboots of beloved animated shows. Not only does the Miller era lack a healthy variety of shows in scheduling, but it also lacks a variety of genres for their lineup to work with.

10 Shaft My Knight and Me to Boomerang

It's just nothing but another cheap and lame French computer animated series. Aside from good modern French animated series like Miraculous Ladybug, it seems the French have lost their touch with creating good computer animated series. I mean, they gave us great shows like Code Lyoko! And now they give us generic crap like My Knight and Me? I really hope Cartoon Network stops importing all these foreign cartoons. They should just stick to making their own original cartoons.

Well, it looks like they actually did this!

The Contenders
11 Greenlight Infinity Train

Good news! Infinity train is coming in 2019.

If they don't do this, they're screwed.

12 Improve Adult Swim

Adult Swim doesn't have that much problems, but they still have crap like Mr. Pickles. Maybe cancel Mr. Pickles?

Rebooting Samurai Jack is a fantastic start

13 Air Justice League Action When People Can See It
14 Create a Separate 24/7 Adult Swim Channel So Cartoon Network Can Be a 24/7 Network

On a separate note, there should really be a lot more action-oriented animated shows on Adult Swim aside from Toonami's anime lineup. I mean, why just air reruns of Seth McFarlane cartoons? Anyone can just watch something like Family Guy or American Dad on Fox or some other syndicated network besides Adult Swim. In addition, I'm pretty sure no one is interested in the live-action shows on Adult Swim. The only good things to ever happen to Adult Swim aside from Toonami's 2012 revival was Rick and Morty and Samurai Jack Season 5 (and FLCL Seasons 2 and 3 when they air in 2018 on Toonami).

I initially wanted this, but Adult Swim can only work as a midnight block because they air stuff like Mr. Pickles, which is a Satanic show that is not appropriate to be aired when kids are awake.

But what if CN do this just for more Teen Titans Go! ? We have to wait until TTG is been cancelled.

I want this so bad!

15 Fire Vishnu Athreya

We can hate Christina Miller all we want, but the true culprit behind all the TTG reruns is THIS GUY. The same guy who did a poor job handling Cartoon Network Asia's scheduling or whatever.

16 Make Villainous a Full Series
17 Create Season 6 of the Original Teen Titans

Hey, if Adult Swim can revive Samurai Jack, why can't Cartoon Network revive Teen Titans? I'm sure a revival of the original Teen Titans series would bring in more ratings and critical acclaim by critics and audiences alike than Teen Titans Go!. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

That reminds me. Apparently Cartoon Network has been airing episodes from the 2005 Ben 10 series, and not from the crappy reboot.

18 Stop Airing Movies All the Time

Most of these movies are just direct-to-DVD movies of Warner Bros. properties. The only ones I can like and tolerate are the Scooby-Doo ones. And more recently, animated movies by Sony Pictures Animation. Considering the network aired Surf's Up 2: Wavemania, it won't be long until Cartoon Network decides to air The Emoji Movie on the block. Not that this is the worst problem out there, but this trend kind of frustrates me a bit.

Along with the fact that Sony managed to get a cheap Flash-animated series based on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and managed to acquire Funimation, it seems to me that Cartoon Network is cooperating with Sony in the wrong direction. Although, hopefully the Funimation acquisition won't impact Toonami and Adult Swim too much...

If they want to air movies, fine. But they air movies all the time for no reason, when they're NOT airing Teen Titans Go. CN even pulled a Stuart Snyder and air live action movies like Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Who the heck is in charge of CN's scheduling?

19 Stop Kissing Up to Sony

Frankly, it seems to be that way for me. Ever since the later years of the Snyder era all up to where we are right now in the Miller era, Cartoon Network tends to air Sony Pictures Animation movies a lot on their movie block. While other types of movies like live-action ones such as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie franchise (and I can tell it's going to be inevitable that Miller is going to let Athreya shoehorn eye torture in the form of poop jokes and other toilet humor through The Long Haul eventually) and direct-to-DVD Warner Bros. movies like Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry (let's just say that the former is the only one I believe has good direct-to-DVD movies most of the time), Cartoon Network seems to be practically promoting and investing in Sony by airing their movies like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the Smurfs franchise, the Open Season franchise, Surf's Up and it's blatantly disgraceful direct-to-DVD WWE crossover, etc. You get the pattern here. To make matters worse, ...more

20 Improve the schedule in order to air more of a variety of shows on the network

If there's one thing Snyder did slightly better than Miller, it's that his scheduling was more diverse and balanced. While the CN Real block was a horrible contribution to the network (and thankfully, short-lived) and there was a slew of mediocre-quality mid-2000's and late 2000's animated series, aside from the infamous endless Johnny Test marathons and reruns, at least Snyder didn't heavily air one show just about 24/7 and ACTUALLY gave room for good shows like Chowder, Flapjack, Total Drama to shine on efficient premiere nights and even the same for hidden underrated gems like The Secret Saturdays. Granted, a lot of shows were screwed by the network during the Snyder era, but for this aspect of the network, Snyder will always be leagues better at schedules than Miller. While Miller seems to think that airing Teen Titans Go! nearly every day at every hour is the way to go to get good ratings, Snyder had more variety with his schedule. Plus, don't forget that HE was the one who ...more

21 Make A Godzilla Cartoon
22 Reboot Ed, Edd N Eddy

Um, NO. I mean, look what happened with Teen Titans, The Powerpuff Girls, and Ben 10. And considering Ed, Edd n Eddy is a comedy-oriented show, it'll most likely be butchered by the network unless Danny Antonucci were to have a hand in making a reboot of his magnum opus.

No, because most Cartoon Network reboots suck. Also EEnE has a good 10 year run.

23 Stop airing Teen Titans Go
24 Remove Clarence from the network

Clarence has already ended production.

25 Stop Making Forced Hits

Forced hits are when a network forces a show to become a hit, even when no one likes it. CN has done this with lots of their shows in recent times. With a ploy, Ben 10 2017 and CWACOM became instant hits. CN aired multiple episodes of both of those shows on their respective premiere dates, so they can have enough episodes for reruns, and so they can spam them more often.
Well, at least I think it's better than Nick's practice of cancelling shows that don't get high ratings.
