Top 10 Things to Do to When You Can't Sleep

Insomnia strikes at unreasonable hours in the night. While these items may not completely cure it, they may help you to become a bit more tired when it’s like three in the morning.

1 Watch TV

Honestly this always helps me. They tell you not to do it, but if you put on a show that you don't have to think about it really helps

Thrillers would obviously be a bad idea here.

My parents would kill me.

2 Heat up a warm beverage

This has never helped me

3 Browse the internet
4 Take sleeping pills
5 Read a novel

Currently reading The Shining. Hopefully it will work

6 Finally accept the fact you’re not going to be able to sleep

Sad to say,this is probably the one I do most often after trying several different things.

Literally what I'm doing right now

7 Avoid thinking about all the things you have to accomplish
8 Go to the bathroom

I actually do this sometimes.

9 Snuggle with a pet

A purring cat works every time for me.

10 Listen to classical music

That works for me. I put on my headphones, listen to metal, close my eyes and soon I get sleepy.

I'm not allowed to listen to loud music when I'm sleeping

13 Eat

Usually what's keeping me from sleeping is a empty stomach.

14 Tell yourself not to be tired

This item usually doesn't work. It relies solely on your brain believing the reverse psychology method.

15 Think about stuff to look forward to the next day
16 Tell yourself you don't have much to do tomorrow so it's okay if you don't sleep

17 Pretend you are so tired you can't even open your eyes
