Top 10 Best Things in Metal Music in 2017

The Top Ten
1 Heavy Metal is at #1 on the list 'Top Ten Best Music Genres'

It was at #1 in 2015 and 2016 as well.
I don't know about the time period before 2015 but I guess this is a long-term trend.

2 Megadeth finally got a Grammy for Best Metal Performance Megadeth is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California. Megadeth was formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine was fired from Metallica. They have released 15 studio albums to date, and have gone through many lineup changes, with Dave Mustaine being the sole constant member.

They released their debut album “Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!” in 1985, but became successful after the release of “Peace Sells...But Who’s Buying?” in 1986. ...read more.

Megadeth had better and more deserving albums in the 90s but I am glad they got this one because it was shameful that many non-metal bands had Metal Grammys while Megadeth didn't have one, after all these years.

8 Coroner confirmed a new studio album in the works for 2017, their first album since 1993 Coroner is a Swiss thrash metal band from Zürich, formed in the early 80s. They have been called "the Rush of thrash metal" for their increasingly complex style of progressive rock-infused thrash. They garnered relatively little attention outside Europe .

... after 24 years! In the meantime, Coroner became a cult band.

9 Demons & Wizards work on 3rd album, hopefully ready for 2018 Demons and Wizards is a power metal band conceived as a side-project by vocalist for Blind Guardian, Hansi Kürsch, and the guitarist for Iced Earth, Jon Schaffer.

Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kursch confirmed it - a 3rd album 13 years after the 2nd one...
Their previous album was so long ago that I wasn't expecting anything from them anymore but yeah, hopefully in 2018.

10 King Diamond became a father and named his son Byron, after Uriah Heep's singer David Byron Kim Bendix Petersen, better known by his stage name King Diamond, is a Danish heavy metal musician. He is known for his extensive vocal range, usually sung in falsetto. King Diamond was originally known as the vocalist for Mercyful Fate, but has become notorious for his horror themed Concept albums that he has released as a solo artist. He is also known for his Satanism which he does not see as a religion, but a philosophy by which he lived even before reading Anton LaVey's The Satanic Bible.

Still kind of odd how he married a 30-something woman while he was in his early 60s.
