Top 10 Things That People Ridiculously Exaggerate About Certain Western Cartoons
This can be a way in which a show is overrated, overhated, or perhaps even occasionally BOTHRen & Stimpy is downright pathetic compared to it (and, ignoring all of the hype surrounding it, also in general)
Spongebob is just plain mediocre and unfunny compared to it (although some of SB's characters are indeed WAY better-written than their Rocko counterparts, I'll admit, with Squidward probably being the most obvious example)
Rocko's praise can also be exaggerated to be honest.
To be fair, I'm REALLY not in the mood to copy-and-paste this stupid "Very High IQ" meme for the THIRD time in a row; all I'm going to say is that just because your main character has a practically infinite IQ does not mean that the show itself ever really reaches anywhere beyond "middle common denominator" at best (still a very solid show though)
It's a pretty entertaining show indeed, but is downright HORRIDLY unfaithful to its source material and somehow manages to STILL come across as more of a spoof of the original comics than anything else
(cough, Powerpuff Girls came out on the EXACT SAME CHANNEL all the way back in 1998, cough)
With the exception of certain episodes like King Ramses' Curse and Muriel Blows Up, most of the show is actually pretty tame (yes, even Perfect, when you take that horrific "blue fetus trumpet monster" out of its equation)
"Ambition makes you look pretty UGLY" - Thom Yorke, 1997
In laymen's terms, the show's art style might have been amazingly creative on paper, but it was just plain hideously dated in practice (yes, that's right; even VISUALLY, Rocko has a pretty clear advantage over this show)
Certainly a LOT more family-friendly than it's given credit for (AND a downright unbelievably top-notch masterpiece of a show to boot, let's not forget that), but literally the ONLY portion of the show in which it ever came even close to being FULLY adult-oriented was Season One, which, quality-wise, was honestly pretty noticeably the weakest of the show's four in retrospect (with Filburt's initial absence from the show's main cast naturally being a VERY big part of the reason why)
And yes, I do actually rather greatly enjoy the infamous Leap Frogs episode as well, but mostly in a "so BAD it's good" sense
For a kids' show, yes, but in the grand scheme of things, not so much
While the show's gross-out humor IS obnoxiously overdone to the point of undeniable absurdity, it thankfully (outside of the Adult Party spinoff, at least) very rarely even BEGINS to approach the sheer level of utterly pointless "literally just for the pure sake of it" gross-out BRAINLESS-ness seen in shows like Mega Babies and Brothers Grunt
It may not be a perfect Nickelodeon cartoon comedy, but it had some moments.
Mis-adventure time is for idiot people because mi-stakes is for idiot people
Calm down, it's more about the main characters being Irish than it is about them being black
Thing is, it's supposed to look bad.
