Top 10 Things Related to Hansi Kürsch to Be Mentioned at the Eve of His 50th Birthday

Hansi is a metal musician born on August 10, 1966 in Germany and he turns 50 next week.

He's been around for over 30 years - singer, lyricist, co-composer, band leader and bassist for Blind Guardian. He's been working really hard and non-stop for over 30 years (no breaks, hiatus) but his voice was still amazing on the 2015 Blind Guardian album. Moreover, he formed a second band (Demons & Wizards), took part in some other side-projects (Ayreon) and provided guest vocals for many metal bands.

Of course you can vote and comment but you can also add items that describe him as a musician and personality, such as:
- your opinion (example - He's got a very powerful voice, Hansi is my favorite metal singer)
- songs you like (by Blind Guardian and Demons & Wizards)
- lyrics you like (he wrote all the lyrics for these two bands so any line you like has been written by him)
- facts about Hansi
- jokes about him
The Top Ten
1 Hansi is one of my most favorite metal singers
2 "Nightfall quietly crept in and changed us all" - Nightfall, Blind Guardian

This line is so beautiful - I am sure it's pure poetry.

3 Wheel of Time - Blind Guardian
4 “And you're not alone so don't be afraid in the dark and cold 'cause the bard’s songs will remain” - The Bard's Song, Blind Guardian

Hansi songs will surely remain. He is the metal bard.

5 My Last Sunrise - Demons & Wizards

This is one of the most emotional vocal performances I've ever heard.

6 Hansi is a perfect combination of singing talent, intelligence and great personality

I can say this only about 3 metal singers - Dio, Bruce Dickinson and Hansi.

7 Hansi always sings from the heart, like there’s no tomorrow
8 His belly isn't just a belly, it's a counterweight to his huge voice
9 Every day he passes 10 hours singing, 10 hours reading, 10 hours writing and 10 hours just being better than you
10 The Bard's Song (In the Forest) - Blind Guardian

I will always be amazed by how a soft acoustic song can be so powerful.

The Contenders
11 Miracle Machine - Blind Guardian

I am happy his voice is aging better than his looks. This song is from the 2015 album and he probably sang it in 2014 when he was 48 but his voice sounds so youthful. This is an incredible achievement for a singer who's been singing tough metal material for 30+ years non-stop.

12 "Who'll grant me wings to fly? And will I have another try?" - At The Edge Of Time, Blind Guardian
13 His parents were very poor (working class family)

They were? How did you know?

14 And Then There Was Silence - Blind Guardian
15 "Would you believe in a night like this? A night like this, when visions come true?" - Skalds And Shadows, Blind Guardian

This song is amazing and I love the medieval influences in it.

16 He doesn't have a great voice - he's got a full choir of great voices

When he sings different vocal lines to create vocal harmonies, it sounds like a choir but he is actually the only singer. It’s lots of hard work and singing but I totally love the result.

17 He can beat you even at the epic levels of ‘Dungeons & Dragons’

He is a massive fan of this game so he also wrote songs about it. Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy role-playing game and the term epic level refers to a very high level of play.

I want to play this game.

18 Crimson King - Demons & Wizards
19 "I'll dare you, come out, you coward, now, it's me or you" - Time Stands Still (at The Iron Hill), Blind Guardian
20 He succeeded to introduce the iron German discipline even in a metal band - Blind Guardian members are not allowed to have even a beer 24 hours before live shows
21 "So what can we do with our lives when it all begins? It's hard and It's cruel" - Thorn, Blind Guardian
22 Nightfall - Blind Guardian
23 “Step out of line and I'll teach you how to fly” - Fly
24 Mirror Mirror - Blind Guardian
25 Hansi is my favorite metal singer
