I listened a lot of their songs and non of them were thrash metal, they're between heavy and speed metal.

Metal Church is amazing! They aren't the thrashiest band in the world. Their "official" subgenre is always debated between heavy metal, thrash metal, speed metal, or even power metal.

From the bay area! Rob Flynn (frontman for Machine Head) was in local rival band Forbidden, and left just before their debut hit to join Vio-Lence.
