202 Soundgarden Soundgarden Soundgarden is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto.

No, Soundgarden are a Sabbath-inspires metal band. There was only Seattle and flannelette shirts that united any of the Grunge movement. Nirvana were Punk, Pearl Jam were alternative rock, and AIC were heavy rock/metal, but Jesus Christ Pose is metal personified, along with countless others.

Come on people grunge isn't heavy metal. It's a mix up of alternative rock, punk rock, hard rock and heavy metal

They're great but they're a grunge band not a metal band. Just like Alice in Chains, which is another good band.

Come on! They're legends! Top 50 at least!
