Top Ten Movies of the 1970s

The decade that started two movie giants: Star Wars and The Godfather.
The Top Ten
1 The Godfather

One of the most critically acclaimed films of all time, The Godfather is often known to many as the best crime film of all time. The Godfather certainly packs a punch.

Easily number one because it's the best of all time. When I'm an adult, I should watch the three best movies of all time: The Godfather, Citizen Kane, and Pulp Fiction, and criticize them.

This is the best movie of all time. A mediocre, cheesy kids' movie is above this classic?

2 Star Wars

At the time of its release, Star Wars was the highest-grossing film of all time, by quite a large margin. Star Wars changed films forever and remains to this day a very influential film.

How dare they say The Godfather is better than Star Wars? It just isn't.

It was the highest-grossing movie of its time, became extremely iconic very fast, was nominated for Best Picture, and won six Oscars for a reason.

3 The Godfather Part II

Star Wars is over this crime epic? What the hell? I don't even like Star Wars. Star Wars is so overrated.

Two icons in one movie. How could this movie not be legendary with two of the greatest legends, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro?

4 Taxi Driver
5 Jaws

Good movie, even though I haven't been in the water since I saw this movie.

6 Apocalypse Now
7 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
8 Alien
9 A Clockwork Orange

This movie is incomparable. Nothing beats it.

Incredible movie. Totally changed my life!

10 Monty Python and The Holy Grail
The Contenders
11 The Exorcist

The greatest horror movie of all time!

12 Rocky

The film that arguably got Sylvester Stallone where he is today. The Rocky series has had five sequels, each featuring a foe that Rocky Balboa has to fight in the end.

13 Grease

John Travolta was so cute in this movie. I wish I could travel back in time to the 1970s and marry him.

I fell deeply in love with Kenickie when I watched it. I love Grease! Best teen musical!

14 Chinatown
15 Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
16 Halloween

This was one of the first low budget movies to make a ton of money and influence the horror genre for decades to come. It's still super popular 40 plus years later because it was an original concept.

17 Superman

To me, these are the Superman movies. I hate the new ones!

18 Dirty Harry
19 Enter the Dragon

This is considered the best kung fu movie of all time and stars the legendary Bruce Lee. This movie made many cultural impacts in America and changed the way Asians were presented in American movies.

20 The Rocky Horror Picture Show
21 The Deer Hunter
22 Annie Hall
23 Eraserhead
24 Monty Python's Life of Brian
25 Close Encounters of the Third Kind
