Top Ten Best Movies Without Best Picture Oscar

The Top Ten
1 The Shawshank Redemption

Simply the best... but what else does one expect from the mind of Stephen King?

A perfect movie.. should have won Academy Award for Best Director, Film, Actor, Supporting Actor, Screenplay and Cinematography.

An extraordinary and uplifting film, that really deserved critical acclaim, its too bad Forest Gump was also a movie made in that year.

U wont see many movies, which has touched simplicity like this does. A pure Classic.

2 The Dark Knight

A flawless acting by the cast especially Heath Ledger, great story line and great direction. Too bad it did not even get the best picture nomination.

Tim Burton < Christopher Nolan agree and I love this movie and Christopher Nolan if you are reading this you are my hero.

Slumdog millionaire is a crap compared to this

Mask of the phantasm anyone or am I alone

3 Inception

Easily the best, though there have been many good ones

4 Saving Private Ryan

I've not seen Shakespeare in Love, but how that beat this, I will never know.

My father and I love to this movie

5 Mad Max: Fury Road
6 Pulp Fiction

Shawshank number 1...just keeping this above others

'Pulp Fiction' is my favorite movie of all time.

7 GoodFellas
8 The Matrix
9 Citizen Kane

Yeah, I think this didn't win because so many people thought it was bad. It was good it was nominated, though.

It's amazing how a whole audience's perception can change over time.

"For those who think it is overrated, watch all of the American cinema prior to this movie. Then watch Citizen Kane".

BEST MOVIE EVER! From technique to acting its just a masterpiece

10 Apocalypse Now

One of the best films of all time, somehow beat by Kramer vs. Kramer...

The Contenders
11 Interstellar
12 Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
13 Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope
14 2001 - A Space Odyssey
15 Psycho
16 Taxi Driver

With a pure style of 70s crime, Martin Scorsese give the great crime movie!

17 Jaws

Jaws is an amazing movie! With great storyline characters, and that music...just AWESOME!

18 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Actually it kind of did win; it was well-known that the Academy voters were waiting for the Trilogy to be completed, and ROTK received the benefit of all 3 movies being among the best of all time.

This movie should have won best picture 2001

Biggest oscar snub of the last decade

19 The Avengers

What a perfect movie! Should it get more than it did? Like for example be nominated for best picture. Avatar and Inception got nominated so why not The Avengers? Great sound mixing, great music, the best special effects I ever seen outside Pacific Rim, great sound editing, great cinematography, great everything. This was awesome!

20 Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
21 There Will Be Blood
22 Avatar
23 Vertigo
24 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

This was a magnificent film, both in story and in detail. It by no means surpasses the novel, but ought to have been a solid contender for the Best Picture Oscar. However, Hugo won the award. I am boycotting the Academy Awards from now on.
