And all that could have been

Nonpointed Remember this site, whether or not you come from Gen-18, or Gen-10, or whatever. Remember that this site is called TheTopTens, and has given us the opportunity to do so many things. We all started very curious, seeming lists that can be voted on, comments made, lists made, posts made, yep, all of those. And then we created our accounts and gave way to the participation. Let us look over what changes have been made in the past few years:

-Back in the day, there used to be a select few profile pictures available, and as such our online avatars were limited to generic things like video game controllers or pictures of horses. Now we can rescale and put up what people want to see us for.
-Back in the day, the site used to be blue da ba dee da ba dai with the devil horns protruding showing what most of the people here really liked. Now it's yellow, a change that didn't seem all too good of one but something we actually can live with.
-Back in the day, we used to see 100 items per page (as the default). The number has been culled to 20, a change in which the majority of users spoke highly against. The number has since increased to 50, and the reception to the change has been positive.
-Back in the day, we used to have school lists. Yes, "school lists". A certain school, Rockland Middle School to be exact, apparently had students who liked using this site. The unfortunate thing about it is pretty much no one cares about it, and these kids will graduate and the point of these lists end up moot years after. So the removal of the specific school lists was well-received
-Back in the day, we used to have admin message us every time we made a list. Every single submission was returned or approved with a nice little message. Sometimes there isn't much of a need for these things, and the new system now is integrated in the actual messaging system, along with other notifications. One can wonder, can this email icon be changed to a bell icon (the usual icon for notifications) in the near future?
-Back in the day, the top list goers were people who knew what kinds of lists they were making. They were very well received on all accounts and despite barely showing up anymore, they are still considered respectable users.
-Back in the day, WE HAD A FORUM, but it's gone now. And the stats were easier to access.
-Finally, the post series. A lot of them are often parodies/fanfiction involving other users or some weird stuff, and most of it remains inoffensive and probably worth a second read. Alas, a good chunk of these post writers no longer seem to use the site anymore.

Comments

Thanks for including me, didn't expect that one. I've honestly seen the old color scheeme, and I think this one is better, although The other one was also very good. - Martinglez

Thank you. - Skullkid755

This is one of my favorite sites (because it's used a lot by me), but I consider it average at best. - Skullkid755

You forgot the chat room that I wish was never removed. It looked like it was cool. Nice post - visitor

Who was this? - Skullkid755

CostcoHotDogs/MindCrime/TheMariner, how quickly you decided to remove your previous account - Nonpointed

Nik was my best friend on this site I'll doubt that'll he return anytime soon... but he was a cool person to talk to. - visitor

Thanks for including me. Also, in 2015, there was that glitch when you submit a post comment and you would also end up posting another post comment which contains 'Saving...' - styLIShT

Damn, seeing the retired users list be longer than the active good users list made me tear up a little. So many names that we've left behind in the dust. Really makes you stop and wonder that they're up to now. Probably something like contributing to society, the bastards. - BlarchBlaces

I've seen traces of recent Activity of Petsounds. Not lists and posts, but comments and occasional remixes. If Montypython qualifies for the active users, why not PetSounds? - visitor

-i'm a bit lazy right now but I'll probably update this later on. also RalphBob is also active too. - Nonpointed

If you update this post, will it lose its HQ status? - styLIShT

I hope not, but then again - Nonpointed

Amazing post - visitor

Iā€™m the retired user no one heard of šŸ˜ - visitor

Well, GamerMike35 sure is going a little bit too far with hating anime, but he is actually kind hearted. - BorisRule

Makes me feel old to think we had a different logo, the site being blue, with a crown at the #1 spot at every lists, with 100 items per page. Of course, I was a visitor way back when. - MrCoolC
