The Doctor a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous, he travels around in his time machine called The TARDIS which stands for time and relative dimensions in space. The show was first broadcast on 23rd November 1963 one day after JFK was assassinated! The show has since ...read more.
The longest running science fiction show of all time, a show that constantly reinvents itself, a show where the main character has been played fantastically by 11 brilliant actors, a show with some of the best sci fi plots ever written, a show that still feels new and fresh today even though it's been around for almost half a century! Why on earth is this not in the top 10?! - chrisgreen
My favourite personally. It's been a part of my life for years now, and while it has faded (in my opinion) of overall performance in the later series, it remains a fantastic show for anyone to view. The lore and universe are staggering, the characters, acting and script are undeniably unforgettable, the show has A LOT to see and the soundtrack...oh my god. Oh, and the show is unique and fresh, as well as every storyline it coughs up. I'll never forget this T.V. Show ever, and I think it deserves to the honoured, as the greatest T.V. Show of all time, ground-breaking and iconic.
Doctor Who deserves WAY more credit than it gets! Most people see it as a weird show about a mad man with a box who is fighting aliens, which is true, but there is also drama, romance, and so much suspense. Most episodes may not be as good as the last ones, but they are all defiantly worth watching. If you haven't watched at least the first episode of the first season (On any one, older or new) then you should asap! This is easily the best show that I have ever seen.
How could anyone not love a hilarious doctor who travels through space and time, fighting hideous aliens and horrific robots? Not to mention he doesn't die... He regenerates! I'm a recent Doctor Who convert and I love it, though only into the second season. The doctor is hilarious and just plain ninja, and each new adversary is interesting, powerful, and sometimes terrifying (think The Empty Child; that just gave me the creeps). There's a reason it's been running for 50 years!
I only watched modern series but I can say it is the best. The best thing about the series is; main characters can change. I mean, if you don't like the new doctor or his/hers companion, you know that the person you don't like will change in a few seasons. My favourite Doctor is 12th, but I love all of them. I'll watch the entire series, it is one of the best ways to spend your free time.
Season 3,4,5,6 are the best out of all. I Recomend Fathers Day, The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Tooth and Claw, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday, The Shakespere Code, The Lazurs Experiment, Human Nature, Family of Blood, BLINK is best!, Utopia, The Unicorn and the Wasp, Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead, Midnight, Turn Left, Stolen Earth, Journeys End, Eleventh Hour, Time of the Angels, Flesh and Stone, Vincent the Day, THe PAndorica Opens, The Big Bang, Imposible Astronut, Day of the Moon, Doctors Wife, Night Terrors, Closing time, The Girl Who Waited, and The God Complex.
This is 20! Should be at least in top 5. Best show ever. The old episodes are boring but the new episodes are the best ever. Series one, not season 1, has some boring episodes but when you get to the second series, the episodes are absolutely awesome. Start watching the new series from 2005.

I discovered Doctor Who only recently, but now I'm addicted to it! I love the cast, expecially David Tennant as The Doctor and Donna Noble, Super Temp. Favortie characters ever. I also like River Song and the 9th doctor very much!
Doctor who is the only show with unlimited potential. The realistic stories get me wondering what could actually happen (or when, in some cases). The character development is amazing. Not to mention, it was so amazing, its been on for 50 YEARS! It's a perfect glend of everything from psychology, to quirks. From physics to romance. Literally, everything is here. The creatures and items are also pretty sick. Like the TARDIS. It's bigger on the inside, and travels in time and space! You admit, you know you want one. Whimsy and wonder- what else could a person need?
Doctor Who was truly one of my favorite T.V. shows as I was growing up in the 90's. When it was cancelled it was a huge heartache for me, but now with the new version of 2005 and the all new Doctors, I have to say it has gotten me back into childhood! It is an amazing T.V. show.
Doctor who is best tv show in the entire world the story is so long and very interesting
It's The psychology that makes the show great especially in the new series - MichaelMadden2001
Doctor who is the best ever. I have the entire neighborhood playing it. I love doctor who. It rocks. The wedding of river song is the best episode of T.V. ever!
It's the longest-lasting sci-fi series as far as I know. There has to be a reason, right? It's phenomenal, all of it, and it's such a joy to watch, from the early work in the sixties and seventies all the way to now.
The fact that this is rated 32 shows that there need to be more British people on this site. Really? Family Guy is ahead of this brilliant series.
Why is this on number 15? Doctor Who has been around for 50+ years! Yes, some stories might be meh, but the most genius episodes make it the best show around for me! It has an EPIC fanbase which will defend this show to the death. The themes, of love (looking at you Rose, Romana, River and Jenny) and the defined sense of morality makes it awesome.
Its just Fantastic! The storylines, the writing, the acting, the score, the direction... just everything about the show makes you want to come back for more!
I love this show. Both the classic and new series are good, and each episode feels different. Also, it's one of the few shows that appeals to everyone: there are some mature concepts (i.E. politics and racism) and it isn't childish, but it doesn't get too inappropriate (all sexual references are subtle, and it doesn't glorify drugs or alcohol).
Try watching "The Impossible Astronaut" or "The God Complex" or "Blink" and THEN tell me that this doesn't deserve the #1 spot.
Why isn't this higher on this list... Wait not... Scratch that. Why isn't this AT THE TOP! Us stupid Americans don't know what's good and what's not.
Doctor Who is honestly the greatest show. It can appeal to all audience groups, it's universe is so big and diverse and its storylines are all so beautiful. - DennisLai290
Doctor Who is without a doubt the best T.V. show ever made. You should watch it to see for yourself.
It was a hard one, but when I saw this on the list, my heart skipped a beat. It pains me to see it isn't in the top ten, you know. I've seen a few episodes from the older days, and I've watched all of the David Tennant episodes (he was awesome! )
But, I have a LOT of catching up to do, this morning I drank from my doctor who mug! Go Doctor Who! - FennikenFan9
i love doctor who the newer series are fantastic, christopher ecclesson was a great doctor and David tennant is an amazing actor - llamalove
