Top 10 TV Tropes that Describe Dib from Invader Zim

The Top Ten
1 The Cassandra

No one ever believes his theories or assertions. Even when the evidence is staring them right in the face. And we, the audience, know he is telling the truth about all of it. The trope is named for the mythical seer Cassandra, who was cursed by the god Apollo to give prophecies which were always true but never believed.

2 Butt Monkey

Iron Butt Monkey, that is. Considering all the mental and physical trauma the writers love to put him through. He's almost always the butt of every joke (quite literally in Battle of the Planets).

3 Only Sane Man

In most situations, he'll be ranting about Zim or some other blatantly obvious abnormality that everyone else just accepts as "normal." In other situations, he'll be ranting about how crazy/stupid everyone else is for making a big deal out of nothing.

4 Seeker Archetype

Trope definition: "Quests for the truth, uncovering mysteries, lies, deception and gaining knowledge about themselves and the universe." Being a paranormal investigator and all, he pretty much sums up this trope.

5 Hero Antagonist

Episodes alternate between focusing on Zim and Dib, some even excluding one of them to focus on the other. "Battle-Dib" excludes Zim and, well, Dib is in the title!

6 Hero with Bad Publicity

Everyone looks down on him and thinks he's a total nutcase. Even his own father, poor kid. He's also the No Respect Guy.

Yep. He has basically no friends.

7 Jerk with a Heart of Gold

He really does care about saving the Earth (most of the time). But he is rather sadistic when dealing with Zim (as he should be) and he can be a jerk towards his sister and his fellow classmates (but who can blame him? ).

He can be selfish, but he's trying to save the world from Zim!

8 Surrounded by Idiots

Yep. "How am I still the only one who sees that Zim is an alien?!" -Dib's Wonderful Life of Doom

"Am I the only one who sees the alien sitting in class? "

9 Dork Knight

Just look at him he's a dork
Lol I think he is more adorable than gir for some reason

10 All of the Other Reindeer

Both he and Zim fall under this trope, big time. They're both mocked by their respective societies, both outcasts, both starved for attention and respect, etc. etc.
