Not only that, but they have to have a male hyena lead the clan rather than a female one. (Real hyena clans are led by females) I think I know the reason why Janja is male instead of female like a real hyena leader...
It seems that it may be because the makers of The Lion Guard wanted to make hyena versions of the trios of the first two Balto movies (Nikki, Kaltag, Star in the first, Nuk, Yak and Sumac in the second). She looks hideous
He's not pleasant to look at, to say the least. Where do I even start? His nose is very big, his 5-o'clock-shadow does not look good on him, his fangs are quite scary, and he is, well, a rat (just don't EVER call him that). There's nothing really attractive about him. Also, his villainous breakdown near the end makes him all the more terrifying.
But I must admit, his saving grace is that his voice actor really loved his role, and that Raitgan revels in being evil - he knows he's evil and he loves it.
