Top Ten Best Underground Music Genres

Underground music refers to music artists, songs, or any genre beyond the mainstream. They are free of record labels and usually have very low recognition. Here are some of the best underground music genres you can find.
The Top Ten
1 Dark Ambient

Uses creepy, and ominous tones.

2 Extreme Metal

I agree with the list and the genres on it. I only think that metalcore is actually one of the most mainstream subgenres that have ever been attached to the metal genre umbrella.

It counts many metal genres of today like deathgrind, black, metalcore, and much more. Most would barely even be recognized my the mainstream culture

3 Experimental

You can create never-before known tracks with experimental. It's like going against the flow

4 Industrial
5 Black Metal

Due to people saying it has satanic themes, it was criticized for such and thus most black metal bands stay below the mainstream culture.

6 Deathgrind
7 Grindcore
8 Noise
9 Shoegaze
10 Vaporwave
The Contenders
11 Punk Rock Punk rock is a subgenre of rock music. It usually has rebellious lyrics and down stroked power chords played on guitars. Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, and Green Day (actually pop-punk, which is still punk in a way) are a few punk rock bands. The subgenre influenced thrash metal because of it's down stroked guitar playing and other factors.
12 Sovietwave

Sovietwave is so underrated! Its music that has emerged from previously soviet states that is made to evoke nostalgia for the USSR. I'm not even soviet, nor was I born during the soviet union, but the nostalgia still very much impacts me. For those of you who are American, its REALLY hard to find. You have to search long and hard, even learn some Russian. But once you do find the great artists of the genre, you won't regret. I guarantee you that it is well worth the trouble.

13 Dark Wave
14 Nintendocore
15 Kawaii Metal
