Top Ten Most Underrated Animals

The Top Ten
1 Rat Rats are various medium-sized, long-tailed rodents of the superfamily Muroidea. "True rats" are members of the genus Rattus, the most important of which to humans are the black rat, Rattus rattus, and the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus.

Whenever I tell people I have a pet rat they share their fictional reasons that I shouldn't be keeping a rat. A rat is a low maintenance, cute, docile and loving pet where most individuals never damage your property, the same can not be said about any other pet.

They are the best animals on earth! They are smart, clever, clean, sociable, and totally loveable. They make the best pets too. It's a shame everyone seems to think that they are gross, dirty and mean creatures because of some stupid stereotype when they are actually the exact opposite.

Should be number 1. They are best pets ever!

Adorable smart little rodents.

2 Megatherium

Please tell me what a megatherium is but if anything this can be underrated

This is a prehistoric animal...why is this here?

Megatherium is a giant sloth that lived during the early Pliocene.

3 Mouse A mouse is a small rodent characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears, a body-length scaly tail and a high breeding rate. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse. It is also a popular pet.

Mice are the most underrated animals ever. Mice are among the cutest creatures on the planet, yet they are the most hated. Cartoon mice are not safe from hatred either. Especially not Jerry Mouse.

For some reason people prefer rats over mice. I think diffrently so I'm voting mice

4 Fennec Fox The fennec fox or fennec is a small nocturnal fox found in the Sahara of North Africa. Its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears, which also serve to dissipate heat.

Without a doubt Earth's cutest animal

Yes! Underrated and adorable. CUTE!

5 Crow

I love these creatures! They are majestic and intelligent. They are one of the earth's smartest animals, and were even proven to be smarter then a adult and 9 year old. Impressive! They are also my second favorite animal!

Crows are really underrated animals.
They can be a good pet like parrot, pigeons, etc. but it's really unlikely for someone to pet these animals although they can be as loyal to you as any other animals.

6 Blobfish The blobfish is a deep sea fish of the family Psychrolutidae. It inhabits the deep waters off the coasts of mainland Australia and Tasmania, as well as the waters of New Zealand.

Overrated? Absolutely, mostly because so ugly. Underrated? NEVER.

Oh my gosh, blobfish look so funny!

The weirdest animal today

Adorable. Just adorable.

7 Goat The goat or domestic goat (Capra hircus) is a domesticated species of goat-antelope typically kept as livestock. It was domesticated from the wild goat (C. aegagrus) of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the animal family Bovidae and the tribe Caprini, meaning it is closely related to the sheep. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. It is one of the oldest domesticated species of animal, according to archaeological evidence that its earliest domestication occurred in Iran at 10,000 calibrated calendar years ago.

Goat-herding is an ancient tradition that is still important in places such as Egypt. ...read more.

Goats will eat anything and make meat and cheese. They also emit less gasses then cows. They are the ultimate sustainable livestock.

I agree it is sad me and my familey have 3 pet goat's yes they eat a lot but whatever

Some people don't even know what a goat is. Sad!

8 Dove Pigeons and doves constitute the bird family Columbidae, which includes about 310 species. Pigeons are stout-bodied birds with short necks, and short slender bills. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and plants.
9 Ferret The ferret is the domesticated form of the European polecat, a mammal belonging to the same genus as the weasel, Mustela of the family Mustelidae.

*le gasp* I love Ferrets! Who doesn't? They are such good pets and very smart as well as adorable.

10 Liger

This list is also underrated along with the animals

Ligers are definitely underrated. They are a cross between a Lion and a tiger and lions and tigers have a lot of popularity. However ligers don’t have that much popularity and isn’t that really known. Definitely underrated.

What's a liger?

The Contenders
11 Goblin Shark

I actually find them cute. They aren't that bad to me, if anything, its interesting that they can do that with their mouths.

Look at that face. How does it not have a horror movie?

12 Sea Monkey
13 Moose

Yes! Moose are extremely dangerous and have been known to kill people. They are very large and heavy, but can run very fast. They have majestic antlers each over a metre long, and they are one of the largest species in the deer family. A large male moose is more than capable of killing an adult wolf, just one well-placed kick. They are very important for the ecosystems where they live, keeping plant growth down so that seedlings can flourish. They also fertilise the earth with their dung! So in a way, they farm their food, by "harvesting" (eating the leaves of plants and trees, and consuming grass) and then "regrowing" (returning the nutrients to the ground via poop, so that they will have more food n the future). Also, moose calfs (babies) are really cute!

Seriously. Who even talks about Moose anymore? Ya ever noticed that?

I too think moose should be higher

14 Sponge

Sponges? At least in my kitchen sink they aren't underrated.

If anything this is an overrated animal

Ahem Spongebob.

15 Anteater Anteater is a common name for the four extant mammal species of the suborder Vermilingua commonly known for eating ants and termites.

Ok listen up buddies. Why is this amazing beast under the log attention wise?! And I’m going to answer some questions you might be thinking.
1. There not strong: Buddy, the giant anteater is equipped with foot long claws, and has killed leopards before, they are also very territorial.
2. There ugly: That’s what most wolf lovers say. They only like overrated crap, also take a closer look, anteaters have a amazing color pallet and are pretty adorable.
3. There’s nothing unique about them: With a 2+ foot long tounge, foot long front claws, walking on its knuckles, thin shouted, and a bushy balancing tail, think again.

They deserve more respect! They may look ugly but they eat ants and we don't want them in the house

From what you stated, they deserve to become pets.

16 Hyena Hyenas or hyaenas are any feliform carnivoran mammals of the family Hyaenidae /haɪˈɛnᵻdiː/. With only four extant species, it is the fifth-smallest biological family in the Carnivora, and one of the smallest in the class Mammalia.

Finally! I love hyenas! They are my life! I don't understand why people hate them. Hyena haters need to do more research. Hyenas are good animals and hunt 90% of the time! I say hyenas are the MOST underrated animal in the world! Now I like lions but THEY ARE OVERRATED. Hyenas are beautiful animals that need more respect.

They're good animals for goodness sake. May be dangerous but still not worth the hate. A certain animated movie got everything wrong with it's awful characters.

Yas! I love Hyenas! They are my favorite wild dog and they deserve much more then what they get. They are much better then wolves, and actually very smart.

People don't understand that lion king made them look like evil and scary but there not that bad and mean as they look that's fake hyeanas need more love

17 Manatee

They're awesome

18 Spider

Even if I do have a phobia of them to the point to whare if I see a small black spider in the corner of my room I scream and name it the devil instantly, some are cute to me. I'm alright with Jumping spiders, but also, please don't call them underrated just because us Phobics are afraid of them. It's my instinct to scream.

Many people think that they're dreaded pests like flies. There would be many more flies and other pests if it weren't for the spiders.

Yeah I love spiders, and all animals, but people hate spiders because of stereotypes. They even say they aren’t animals and are just creatures

Spiders are the 8est! :::

19 Great White Shark The great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), also known as the white shark, white pointer, or simply great white, is a species of large mackerel shark which can be found in the coastal surface waters of all the major oceans. It is notable for its size, with larger female individuals growing to 6.1 m (20 ft) in length and 1,905–2,268 kg (4,200–5,000 lb) in weight at maturity. According to a 2014 study, the lifespan of great white sharks is estimated to be as long as 70 years or more, well above previous estimates, making it one of the longest lived cartilaginous ...read more.

Sharks are actually very intelligent. NOT just mindless killing machines. There have actually been only around 1,000 recorded attacks since 2012. Honestly, they're intelligent. Nobody gets that.

This guy has been in a lot of movies. Overrated, but still he is a cool animal and don’t underestimate this animal

20 Pig A pig is any of the animals in the genus Sus, within the Suidae family of even-toed ungulates. Pigs include the domestic pig and its ancestor, the common Eurasian wild boar, along with other species; related creatures outside the genus include the peccary, the babirusa, and the warthog.

Pigs are one of the smartest animals on Earth and they're awesome. I don't eat pork, bacon, ham, sausages, pepperoni or things that have pig meat because I love pigs.

They're not dirty, fat slobs who live for the sole purpose of being eaten. They are intelligent, emotional, and clean animals that deserve to live a full life.

Pigs are actually very cute, smart and they make good pets. It's a common misconception that they're stupid and ugly.. Pigs are misunderstood.

If you think pigs are dumb creatures, then you're dead wrong.

21 Donkey The donkey or ass is a domesticated member of the horse family, Equidae. The wild ancestor of the donkey is the African wild ass, E. africanus. The donkey has been used as a working animal for at least 5000 years.

They aren't as dumb as their name and look would suggest.

Donkeys are beautiful.

22 Badger Badgers are short-legged omnivores in the family Mustelidae, which also includes the otters, polecats, weasels and wolverines.

Wolves and lions are overrated because of their looks. Honey badgers are brave, determined, strong, confident, and intelligent

Badger! Yes they killed Cinderpelt but that's fiction.

23 Otter Otters are carnivorous mammals in the subfamily Lutrinae. The 13 extant otter species are all semiaquatic, aquatic, or marine, with diets based on fish and invertebrates. Lutrinae is a branch of the Mustelidae family, which also includes weasels, badgers, mink, and wolverines, among other animals.
24 Turkey Vulture

Super important for the ecosystem!

25 Snake Snakes are elongated, limbless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes. Like all other squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales. Many species of snakes have skulls with several more joints than their lizard ancestors, enabling them to swallow prey much larger than their heads (cranial kinesis). To accommodate their narrow bodies, snakes' paired organs (such as kidneys) appear one in front of the other instead of side by side, and most have only one functional lung. Some species retain a pelvic girdle with a pair of vestigial claws on either side of the cloaca. Lizards have evolved elongate bodies without limbs or with greatly reduced limbs ...read more.

Instead of Danger Noodle, I call them Elongated Sticks

These creatures are awesome! ( and fun too... )
