Most Underrated Dragon Ball Characters

These are characters that don't get the recognition they deserve. They are big personalities that never really get talked about in the Dragon Ball franchise. Some of them are higher than others that are more popular but they still don't get the fame they deserve! Feel free to add characters some i will not add because I've forgotten or I just don't think they were really deserving of being on this list.
The Top Ten
1 Zarbon Zarbon is Frieza's right hand man and highest ranking Commander and General in an army of millions. All three of Frieza's highest ranking elites are very underrated. Zarbon managed to take down Vegeta and warn of the Saiyan threat; Dodoria toppled Bardock and his crew and kept Frieza's secrets for years, and Cui was responsible for leading numerous military invasions as well as being Vegeta's arch-rival for years. All three were pivotal plot devices in Vegeta's story and need more recognition.

Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, the Ginyu Force, and King Cold are all severely underrated; they all contribute heavily to the story and are used as proper plot devices but get little recognition. Zarbon is especially used very eloquently in the workings of the Dragon Ball storyline, both as Vegeta's rival and as Frieza's underling.

Zarbon and Dodoria are both highly underrated. They accomplished so much as villains and as followers but aren't recognized as much as the more popularized villains such as Broly, Cell, and Buu. Personally highly prefer Zarbon, Dodoria, and the Ginyu Force to the likes of movie villains and the "primary" antagonists.

Zarbon was the one member of Frieza's forces who had the most accomplishments and major role, but he is underrated due to the more powerful villains who appear later in the series; but in hindsight, Zarbon deserves way more credit.

2 Dodoria Dodoria is one of Frieza's top two right hand men and in an army of millions. He is always beside his master and emperor, Frieza, following his orders and carrying out his dirty work alongside his comrade, Zarbon. Dodoria is responsible for advising Frieza on numerous matters and remains loyal to Frieza throughout the entire story arc, executing young Namekian children and elderly, collecting the Namekian Dragon Balls, and in general, offering his efforts to increase Frieza's reign in the galactic planet trade. As a brutal warrior, several years ago Dodoria ruthlessly carried out the execution of Bardock's team of elites as they were growing powerful and becoming a threat to Frieza's power. ...read more.

Dodoria is highly underrated; He toppled Bardock and his crew and kept Frieza's secrets for years, serving alongside Zarbon and leading numerous military invasions as well as being Vegeta's rival. He was a pivotal plot device in Vegeta's story and needs more recognition.

Dodoria slaughtered the Namek elders and children, butchered Bardock's elites and defeated Bardock with a single mouth blast, and Gohan and Krillin barely ran away from his wrath; knew he was one of the best villains all along! He deserves so much more credit!

Vicious and brutal, he had Bardock's team executed, ruthlessly butchered the Nameks in search of the Dragon Balls, and revealed the secret of the Saiyan genocide to Vegeta.

Dodoria is a vicious powerhouse; Frieza the sinister tyrant and Zarbon the calm and collected adviser: Dodoria is the ruthless and massive brute of their team.

3 Android 19

Android 19 had that amazing fight against Goku and Vegeta; he savagely choked Goku when he was struck by the virus and was felled only when Vegeta interfered to prove his Super Saiyan supremacy. There was so much emotional development as well as plot device usage and this makes Android 19 the best used character in the saga as a villain. The most fantastic was the scene where Vegeta rips off his arms and declares that androids do experience fear before exploding him and we see his decapitated head roll across the ground. Bonus points to Android 19 for being such an awesome antagonist and succumbing to that magnificent onscreen fate.

4 Salza Salza is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

I honestly feel like Salza was a good character! He was the leader of cooler armoured squadron and he put up a good fight against Piccolo, however the dragon ball fans that I speak to don't really know Salza and as I'm a hardcore dragon ball fan it annoys me as I think he was a great character with an amazing personality! Yeah sure he is from a movie and all, but Broly is and he is so overrated and is in nearly every game.

Salza was amazing, he made Ginyu look awful

Salza was so badass! His moves are awesome!

5 Android 13 Android 13 is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

He was strong! Like really strong when he took the parts from the other androids. Needs to be more recognized. The only androids people talk about is 16-(Sometimes), 17, 18 and Cell

6 Chiaotzu

What a shame... He ended up being Tien's little friend instead of the good cheaky little fighter we all once knew him as and then he kinda faded into the background

7 Uub
8 Neiz

What can I say? He was such a good fighter, you cannot deny it! If Piccolo did not reflect Neiz's move he would've died. The character was full of personality and it made him one of my favorite dragon ball character villians ever, just a shame that he doesn't get much attention and not many people know him

Loved him should be cannon

9 Bojack

I get it, the movie characters aren't as popular but they had the best fights because they had a whole movie for themselves. He was a strong villain and one of the most evil as he even killed Zangya who was on his side.

10 Yajirobe Yajirobe is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

It sucks that he was another dragon ball character that slid into the background, it seems like all the lovable characters are being pushed away and not fighting anymore.

The Contenders
11 Nail

This character was the reason Piccolo got a lot stronger, he wasn't really seen much and that's why nobody really spoke about him but he is still apart of Piccolo

12 Guldo Guldo is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

Had a strong potential and one of the most effective powers of all military personnel! The ability to stop time and freeze opponents dead in their tracks made him a force to be reckoned with! It was only due to Vegeta's treacherous interference that he met a grisly fate! Amazing character overall and one of Frieza's best mercenaries!

Time stopping telekinetic member of the Ginyu Force!

13 Cui

Made you look.

14 Jeice Jeice is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.
15 Pure Evil Buu

Remember him? The Grey Buu, I understand why people didn't really speak about this character just because Super Buu, Majin Buu and Kid Buu had so much more parts than him. However this character was the pure evil inside of Majin Buu and his fight with Majin Buu was awesome

16 Burter Burter is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.
17 Recoome Recoome is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.
18 Yamcha Yamcha (ヤムチャ, Yamucha) is a Bandit and a main protagonist in the Dragon Ball manga and in the anime Dragon Ball, and later a supporting protagonist in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, with a few appearances in Dragon Ball GT. He has black hair and has a scar across his eye and cheek.

Admit it Yamcha haters, TFS fans, and Vegeta/Bulma shippers, you may mock him for losing against that dumb cabbage alien but I bet you won't do better if the saibamen was on the same level of existence as yours. Plus Yamcha might not be the strongest in terms of power but he is more emotionally stronger than most of the other characters. I find it ironic that Yamcha is not a cynical grump like Vegeta is when the latter has rich wife named Bulma and two kids and is the second strongest in the world. Instead of being like Vegeta, Yamcha chose to put his cruel misfortunes behind him and live on. Vegeta only has the flaw of being inferior to Goku at fighting which itself is easy to ignore. In fact Vegeta acts more like a loser than Yamcha ever did. Vegeta seems to only live to get stronger than Goku and he pretty much puts his obsession over everyone else. I really don't see why people like him more than Yamcha. In fact Vegeta had gotten stale and relies too much on his rivality. Yamcha ...more

People keep saying as if he would die immediately if he gets into a fight, and says that he's the weakest person in the world etc.., but it's not true! Yamcha's still one of the most powerful humans, it's not his fault he can't keep up with superpowered aliens! He is still far and above stronger than a moon buster, and for an Earthling, that's quite impressive.

I actually find him more interesting than most of the relevant characters (such as Vegeta who has his overstayed jealousy of Goku's strength) due to the fact that he actually has a personality beyond being a (ex? )fighter. I find the fandom to be too harsh on him just because he is not among the top five fighters in the franchise.

He does not deserve any of the hate he gets.

19 Tien Town is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

Seriously how is Chiaotzu ahead of Tien

20 Pui Pui Pui Pui is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.
21 Janemba Janemba is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.
22 Chi-Chi Chi-Chi is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

Chi-Chi should have been a Z fighter. She is a skilled martial artist and a mother who was tossed on the sidelines for no reason whatsoever. She had multiple chances for her character to grow. Saiyan Saga Chi-Chi tracks down Piccolo and demands her son. Piccolo challenges Chi-Chi stating she can take Gohan when she defeats him.

Namek Saga-I always wondered how an over protective mother let her son go to space instead of going with him. I can see Chi-Chi rescuing both Namek children and pummel Dadoria for attempting to kill a child.

Android saga-Gohan's future is at stake and Chi-Chi just played house wife instead of going at it with Piccolo and Goku determined to change the future and see her son become a scholar.

Why didn't any of this happen. Imagine what she would be like in the Tournament of Power?

23 Android 16

The strongest of all androids by its own, but also the most noble of them all. Acting as the big bro of 17 and 18, shows his true strenght v.s. Cell on the first form. For the record: He was build for killing goku, therefore he never used all his potential even against Cell, proving he was far superior than 17 in combat. He lately friends the Z Warriors and is able at the cost of its life, to unleash the best Gohan in all DB sagas. To be honest, he has a pretty cool design which is a huge contrast with his calm personality. One of the biggest designs in Dragon Ball and one of the most underrated in my opinion. I wish he was revived like 17 was...

24 Korin

Korin was very funny in the early dragon ball series, he has helped goku a lot through reading his mind and helping him know what he needs to know. He is a very fun wise cat.

He's so underrated he gives the z warriors senzu beans and that's helped them many times!
