Top 10 Most Underrated Metal Ballads of the 21st Century

When people think of modern metal ballads, most of them think of ballads by Slipknot (Snuff), A7X, Disturbed, BFMV, and other popular bands. Everyone knows those ballads. But it's debatable whether these bands are actually metal.
As a result, modern ballads by metal bands remain underground and underrated.
The Top Ten
1 Sinner - Theocracy

A song from their debut album, 2003. A very well composed and executed song. Even though it's a ballad, it definitely has those clear metal progressions with noticeable classical influences.

2 Fiddler on the Green - Demons & Wizards

2000.
A very sad yet beautiful song about 2 kids that died in a car accident.
Incredible vocals, including an impressive scream.

3 Ghost of Freedom - Iced Earth

2001. The creative tandem Jon Schaffer - Matt Barlow was amazing.

4 The Man (That I Don't Know) - Primal Fear

A very well composed and executed ballad of 2007. Great vox, esp. 4:00-4:20 (wow! ), two guitar solos, and so on.

5 Love's Tragedy Asunder - Demons & Wizards
6 Teräksen Taakka - Teräsbetoni
7 A Greater Darkness - Moonspell

2012.
A pretty dark song about a friend who died.
"A greater darkness for all it's worth
A friend so young who's life was cut
We drink the rain to clear our throats
We drink the poison to make it go"

8 In My Time of Need - Opeth

That's a great ballad but I put it lower because it isn't as obscure as the songs above it. The reason is that Opeth is a known band

9 Down Where I Am - Demons & Wizards

A very poignant song about a father whose newborn child was diagnosed with Down Syndrome.

10 White Omega - Moonspell

2012.
In this song is one of my most fave lines ever: "It's when life's so precious that every moment hurts".

The Contenders
11 Harvest - Opeth
12 Distant Memories - Blind Guardian
13 Everytime It Rains - Primal Fear
14 Carry the Blessed Home - Blind Guardian
15 Uudestisyntynyt - Teräsbetoni
16 Miracle Machine - Blind Guardian
17 Diabolus - Primal Fear

2005.
This song is epic and flawless. It might be a bit heavier than a usual ballad. For this reason I was't sure if to add it. But on the other hand it sounds ballad-esque and has that vibe to it.
It's up to you whether to count it or nor but make sure to give it a listen.

18 Till the End - Motorhead
