Most Underrated Metal Ballads
Overall I find this an underrated song, but at the same time this is the least underrated Testament ballad out of the five (The Ballad, The Legacy, Return to Serenity, Trail of Tears, Cold Embrace)
It's in the shadow of Nothing Else Matters and Fade To Black, but overall this is a very well known song and I wouldn't call it underrated.
A very beautiful and sad ballad. Great vocal performance giving chills (Hansi Kürsch).
Real story behind the lyrics: the singer & lyricist saw two car accidents in one week and two kids were killed - a boy and a girl.
In the song this story goes like that: Death took the life of the boy by mistake and to make up for it, the reaper also took the life of the girl, who his soulmate would have been in life. The reaper talks to the girl: "Would you mind if take you? "...
Blind Guardian fans appreciate the song but outside this fanbase it is practically obscure. This ballad is so damn good that every metalhead deserves to hear it.
This ballad has several official audio versions but the best one is on the official video.
One of the best songs ever written and performed.
I don't think it's underrated. Every metal fan knows this song. And it's #4 on the list of best metal ballads (Top Tens). How is this underrated?
An underrated Megadeth ballad would be Promises or 13.
Love this song. Especially the original version.
The first ever metal ballad
See the blind man...
Classy, exquisite ballad. Great guitars and vox, too (Joe Lynn Turner).
Maybe this is the most nostalgic ballad for a gorgeus and underrated band.
Magnificent start to finish - 8 min eargasm ...
Motorhead are not a metal band. Listen to Lemmy - he says the same: not metal.
It's strange that some of the most popular ballads also appear on the list of underrated ballads. This way songs that are really underrated are underrated even on the list of the underrated songs...
Cemetery Gates is #5 on the list of best metal ballads (Top Tens) and here again #5 most underrated... There is something wrong with this list.
A Tout Le Monde, The Unforgiven, Snuff and Cemetery Gates are NOT underrated and shouldn't be on this list, let alone Top 5 (if you know the meaning of underrated; If you don't - just scroll down and you will see awesome ballads you've never heard of).
This is a love song but it's really very dark - it's about a man whose wife is terminally ill, and he assists her suicide, and ends up killing himself.
A breathtaking vocal performance by the incredible Hansi Kürsch - emotive, expressive and divine tone. It's difficult to write and perform a love ballad without sounding cheesy. Yet, this song proves it's possible. Nothing's fake here and I believe every single word/note (credits to Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kürsch).
Fantastic, but quite morbid
A hidden gem - released way after their peak, this beautiful song remained unnoticed.
One of the most beautiful and powerful ballads but very underrated.
Chills all the way.
Not really underrated - usually appears in the top 10 ballads (metal and non-metal lists). It's #8 on the list of best metal ballads (Top Tens) and also here #8 most underrated. This is plain ridiculous.
