Most Underrated Rock Musicians in Relation to Their Band's Popularity

There are many popular rock bands. But not all members of those bands get proper ratings. These musicians seem to be underrated to me.

I can be wrong. If someone disagrees then you could simply write. I will be happy to know.
The Top Ten
1 John Deacon - Queen John Richard Deacon (born 19th of August 1951) is a retired English musician, who is best known as the bassist for the rock band Queen.

John had wrote much memorable songs from You're My Best Friend to Spread Your Wings to Another One Bites the Dust to I Want to Break Free. I as a fan totally respect his space, and want to thank him for writing amazing songs that kept Queen alive with amazing song-writing, not to mention, his best bass playing guitar.

A very good songwriter, and a good bass player (Under pressure, Another one bites the dust), but Freddie overshined every other member.
However John Deacon's best friend was Freddie. He told once: "Freddie is my best friend. He is my voice you know. I am not so shy, when I am with Freddie..."

Jon Deacon is pretty much underrated. While Freddie Mercury and Brian May is very popular.

He was like secret weapon! Wrote some very good songs!

2 Alex Lifeson - Rush Aleksandar Živojinović, better known by his stage name Alex Lifeson, is a Canadian musician, best known as the guitarist of the Canadian rock band Rush.

Rush is very famous. But he is little bit of underrated. While other two members are popular

3 John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin John Baldwin, better known by his stage name John Paul Jones, is an English multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger and record producer. He is best known as the bassist for the English rock band Led Zeppelin. Years after Led Zeppelin split, Jones joined supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, featuring Dave Grohl and Josh Homme. He is also part of the folk band Dave Rawlings Machine.

He was in the same band as Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, so he got quite unlucky. Put that in with Bonzo's incredible drumming skills, and he was almost a ghost. He did write the riff for Black Dog though.

Led Zeppelin is also overrated to many people. But John Paul Jones is pretty much underrated. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant gets most of the credit. But He did more than just bass and keyboards.

True. All we hear are the names of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page & Jon Bonham whilst he is as good as them.

4 Malcolm Young - AC/DC Malcolm Mitchell Young was an Australian musician and songwriter, best known as a co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter for the hard rock band AC/DC.

AC/DC is very popular. But Malcolm Young seems to be very underrated.

5 Mitch Mitchell - The Jimi Hendrix Experience John Graham "Mitch" Mitchell was an English drummer who was best known for his work in the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Jimi Hendrix gets most of the credit for this band. But Mitch Mitchell did too

6 Roger Taylor - Queen Roger Meddows Taylor is an English musician , multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter born on July 26th, 1949 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk. He was the drummer of the band Queen and wrote few of many hits such as "Under Pressure", "A Kind Of Magic" and "Radio Ga Ga". Despite being well known in Queen he had a solo career that up to this date has 5 studio albums and a side-band/supergroup of his called "The Cross" that went from 1987 to 1993 and him being the lead vocalist, they've released 3 studio albums.

He had a great voice. And he can play guitar. And he is a very good drummer. But he doesn't get the credit for it

I think he is the second most talented band member.

7 Arnel Pineda - Journey Arnel Campaner Pineda is a Filipino singer and songwriter. He came to prominence in the Philippines during the 1980s and internationally in 2007 as the lead singer of the American rock band Journey.

The Contenders
11 Jeff Beck - The Yardbirds Geoffrey Arnold "Jeff" was an English rock guitarist. He was one of the three noted guitarists to have played with The Yardbirds (the other two being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page). Beck also formed The Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice.

Nah. Jim McCarty is more underrated than Jeff. Jim was an awesome drummer, but he never gets mentioned when people talk about the Sixties. Jeff gets his fair share of respect amongst guitarists.

Jeff is way more famous than his band.

12 Krist Novoselic - Nirvana Nirvana's bassist for the entirety of their lifespan before the group was disbanded in 1994. Nowadays, Krist is a humanitarian and a human rights activist.
13 Matt Helders - Arctic Monkeys

This guy deserves more attention, he's a very talented drummer and a singer. Better than the lead singer in my opinion
Not many people know that he played drums
on Diamond Heart by Lady Gaga because everyone is so busy watching Alex. It pisses me off...

14 Clem Burke - Blondie
15 Andy Hurley - Fall Out Boy
16 Johnny Christ - Avenged Sevenfold Jonathan Lewis Seward, known as Johnny Christ, is the bassist of the American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. Seward is the fourth bassist to join Avenged Sevenfold in 2003, replacing former member Dameon Ash.

Avenged Sevenfold is one of the most popular metal/rock bands of modern music. But unlike most of his members he is underrated

17 Sid Vicious - Sex Pistols John Beverly, born John Simon Ritchie, later named Sid Vicious, was an English musician, most famous as the bass guitarist of the influential punk rock band the Sex Pistols, and notorious for his arrest for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen.

Everybody knows him and knows he's not talented.
