Hidden Gems #4 Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon

You know I don't watch a lot of anime, but there are these kind of animes that really interest me. I was stoked about this game when it came out back in 2001. So what is there to this game well for one it's based on the very first story in the series which is the one year war between the Earth federation (protagonists) and the Principality of Zeon (antagonists). The setting takes place of the year 0079 Zeon declared a war for independence that lasted seven years until finally making a peace treaty between one another.

(Starts up the game)

Characters and gameplay: Main protagonist Amuro Ray has never piloted a mobile suit before only to realize he actually had it in him. Then would battle his way with names like the Black tri-stars, Ramba Ral, M'Quave, Zabi's & Most known rival Char Aznable (the main antagonist of zeon). Amuro has allied comrades of Kai, Hayuto, & Bright. The intro to the game leaves with a fitting final quote ''who will survive'' making me think of the infamous survival of the fittest quote often used. We enter the menu screen with 4 options of Arcade mode, Vs. Mode, Campaign, & the options itself. The mobile suits for Earth Federation consist of either Guncannon, Ball, or generic White suits, then of course the actual white devil suit with the blue chest which is what Amuro uses. On the other side which has a ton of variety to choose from with the likes of the Zaku, Zaku II, Gouf, Dom, Rick Dom, Gyan, Zong & other suits I can't think of on the top of my head. So pick your suit and get ready for a war as your progress the game slowly becomes harder it may take you a ton of tries to do even. This game does not screw around when the difficulty is indicated as it's on very hard it really is very hard obviously. It's like after all the back and forth you have endured. Here you are at a baoa qu either fighting with the heroes or the villians and your either A. escort the escape of the remaining Zabi member of Zeon or your the heroes and your pursuing Char to the end in the classic final bout in which you watch of course. While your not rewarded anything for completing the half I went back and did the other half it was the sane so yeah that part was disappointing, but that doesn't make it one of the most disappointing games of all time, no I can think of five games right now if I had to, but that's not what this is about. The point is yes not the greatest reward ever, but after beating the game it had to feel good right?

Additional Touches: It's great to have a friend battle you that would make the game more unpredictable and challenging and imagine this getting a remastered version and all the gundam fans would buy it it would be a wet dream alright. This is considered one of the best of the games video game library and I can'r disagree. This game hold a big nostalgic value for me not did I grow with the original series well not totally, but I caught it at the right time to the point it was getting a game based on it I didn't regret it since. The games soundtrack was actually also in the series which I like not all games do this where they have the licensed music used in the actual show imported into a game that's a cool touch. Did this game leave me an impression back then and does it still do now? Well back then I thought it was the best gundam game out. Since then I still believe that it is that good. Sure there are games gundam reborn that kinda close there, but not like this game where the got pretty much the main story and also some the characters you see in this game don't appear in the newer gundam games. I say a solid 8 out of 10. If your a fan of robot fighting with anime mixed in then give the original series a shot then play this game.
